Default Fog Light Question

My car has a wire harness pre run to the fog light? Is this standard as I thought we had to run the wires our selves. Sorry I read the diy, and was unable to tell.

mine didn't have it so wired up my own cord.

i thought i read somewhere that your cord is not hooked up to anything(?). so it might be faster just wiring up a new cord.

The wire runs into a gromment in the middle of the hatch back area, some where near the wire harness for the rear brake lights. I need to get the meter out and test it. I was so hoping to be able to plug n play.

well, even if it only goes into the trunk area that'll save you some time fishing wires down the bumper and throught the grommet.

just tap it from the trunk area.

What I did was took the center inner-trunk panel off. there's a small bundle of wires going from the right to the left of the car. the orange wire that is part of the fog harness also runs thru there.

I cut the orange wire in half, tapped it into the brake lights wire. and I was done. literally took only 5 minutes to wire up the entire fog light. I did not want to search for the other end of the plug - and I wanted a 4th brake light down there.

Thank you for the info. I ordered the brake light last night. Where do you think the wires go that you did not follow? Just curious. I would love to be able to hook it up like Euros.

I assumed it went all the way to the location that the Euro fog light switch is supposed to be at. And honestly i have no idea, somewhere in the drivers side console, door, or steering column.

I would really love to get my hands on the stock switch set up and see what would happen. Thanks again for the replies.

I'll tell you tomorrow evening whether that wiring harness works down there. Mine has it too, but I'm gonna need to get the dremmel from work to cut those nuts off.

OK, it just took me about an hour to grind the two nuts off the housing unit. I connected the fog light up to the wiring harness and got nothing. I turned the lights on and applied the brake, got nothing. I also tried the light switch turned to the fog light switch, and still nothing.
