Default Loud AC

So when I turn on my AC, it is noticeably loud. When the car is idling at a light, the AC is very noticeable and makes the entire idling volume increase twofold. I am not sure when this started happening, but I don't think this was the case when the car was new/stock. I don't think any of my mods should be affecting the AC, but what do you guys think? Is it normal and I just never noticed it before or should I get the AC looked at?

Mine is loud if I leave the fan setting on auto. It cranks until the temp is appropriate and then winds down a little. Don't like that so I never leave it on auto. Setting it one stop past auto is much quieter and works just as well in my book.

[FP fishing] But you have an AT so I wonder if you can turn the fan to manual [/FP fishing]

JARblue and Zbrah like this.

It's loud overall ta all fan levels from the lowest to max. It's not the noise of the fan, the whole car just sort of rumbles (not sure if that's the right word) a bit when the AC is on. This doesn't happen if the fan is on without the AC. So this confirms that it is not normal. maybe I'll have it looked at.

I run windows down almost year-round. And when I turn on the AC it is very noticeable in my garage when the sound is rebounding off the walls. Just my experience. Also, I almost never turn it on Auto. I turn the temp all the way down or up (depending on winter or summer) and turn the fan on the MIN level. At stop lights I don't notice it any more than when it is off, but I often still have the windows down or partially down. However, I think i can definitely say that it does not double the idle noise even in my garage.
