I think I'll take the plunge maybe next week and let everyone know how it goes.

Anyone got other mods to reduce weight?

I agree.... not yet at least!!! :happydance:

After my experience with the Braille battery I'll sum it up like this....if your car is a daily driver and you live in areas where the temperature will drop below 40 degrees regularly, don't get it. If you're like me and the Z is not a daily driver, get it.

FYI -

Removed ebrake and related handle, cables and assemblies for savings of 8-9 pounds

There are brackets supporting the front fascia that are over-built, removed about 5 pounds of brackets

Was previously using aftermarket dual oil coolers and now going down to one but adding shrouding to increase effectiveness - will be net weight savings of 5 pounds

Will be replacing headlights with covers for any day time events for net weight savings of 10 pounds

Have another 80-100 pounds we are targeting and will report back here later

Do you have an accurate idea of what your car currently weighs? I would be interested to hear.

I'll post corner weights next couple weeks... previously at 3,250 with driver and safety gear and full tank of gas... Long-term goal is 3,100 with same... seems crazy, but we're taking it one pound at a time at this point

SPOHN 01-23-2011 12:26 PM

I just saved one pound with lug nuts. I belived I saved about 6 to 8 pounds on my wheels also.

Thanks for those travis. I will check those out! Did you find that running two coolers was not that much more effective than one with a shroud or are you just doing it for weight savings?

Great suggestions!

travisjb 01-23-2011 03:11 PM

two coolers = -15F versus one cooler... my belief is that I will gain back those 15F by adding the shroud... with two coolers I was able to run in AZ summer heat, goals is to do that with one

RCZ 01-31-2011 01:39 PM

Which cooler are you using? What are the dimensions of the core and the lines?

Also please let us know how the shroud turned out and post lots of pictures man.
