So does anyone have any information about the 2016 Z. I've read about the car being mated with a Mercedes 3.0 twin turbo direct injection 6 cylinder producing around 400 horsepower. Also the platform will be based off Fm Q-50 chassis.

Do a forum search it's been widely discussed/speculated.

The smart money is that the new engine with will have some sort of forced induction (probably turbo charged) paired with an energy recovery system (aka hybrid/battery power) that will help run the FI system. Simply look to Formula 1 power units to see where engines are headed.

Remember, that whatever engine Nissan puts in the new Z will be shared with several other Nissan autos, hence Nissan is surely heavily testing its new engine for reliability and this may delay its introduction. The new FI/hybrid engines of the future will be amazing, but FI engines always have potential reliability issues given that they are far more complex than naturally aspirated engines.
