flushing clutch and brake fluids!

hey guys quick question..i know that if only bleeding the clutch nd brakes 2 bottles of RBF600 racing fluid is enough...but what if im flushing? is 3 enough or do i need 4??

Last time I did my brakes I used about 1L , and maybe 500mL for my clutch. Not sure if that helps. It's always good to have a spare one though!

Three 500ML bottles should be plenty. 1-2 bottles should be good for a full flush of the brake system. The clutch system doesn't use near as much fluid and should be good with ~1/2 bottle. But as stated, an extra bottle never hurts.

FWIW, I did a quick web search and the shelf-life of unopened brake fluid is 2-5 years, depending on which manufacturer/source you ask. If kept in a controlled environment (eg, HVACed garage/house), I wouldn't be afraid to double those figures.

As indicated by others, a complete "flush" of the brake system requires about 1.5 liters of brake fluid. To flush the clutch system requires 250 - 300 mL.

You're good to go. I think AK posted a DIY on how to change the brake fluid using a power bleeder. You might want to check it out.

last thing is, is it bad if i only bleed the clutch nd brakes? i ask because right now i only have regular dot 4 fluid not rbf600 racing fluid...so if they mix is that bad? will i get full effect of the rbf 600? or should i just flush

I think you are asking about emptying the system then refilling it vs bleeding new fluid through system as you drain the old fluid. While emptying completely and then refilling is typically ideal, a good bleed can accomplish virtually the same amount of contaminant removal.

Don't worry about it mixing. First, suck out all the dirty fluid you can from the reservoir and then refill it with fresh fluid. Make sure you bleed enough to get nice fresh fluid coming out the bleeder valve. You should have plenty of fluid to do this since you got the extra bottle.

Just tell him you want a full flush and that you're putting in different fluid. If he's competent, he should take care of you.
