Default S-Mode Failure Warning Light

I have a 09 370Z with 6 speed manual. 3 times now I have hade the gear indicator go blank and the car show that s-mode is no longer working. I turn off car and restart and gear indicator and s-mode starts working again. I have performed the nutral learn proceedure but still randomally have this issue. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how was it fixed?

Thanks

Did you try to disconnect your battery and have the system reset itself?

Hey there Tracer 09, I have had that issue a few times as well. 2011 Z, 30,000km (20,000 miles) and had that happen maybe 3 or 4 times? It just slips out of S mode for no reason. Usually scares the sh*t out of me because it happens when I'm downshifting, expecting rev-match but instead get rev-jerk.

No diagnosis. Hasn't happened for about a year.

^^ Might not "happen" when I downshift, I just "notice" it when I'm downshifting.

I'm not very familiar with S-Mode but the first thing that comes to mind is the shifter position sensor - bad sensor, needs adjustment, wiring problem, &c. If nobody can pinpoint the problem, I suggest using the diagnostics in the FSM.

Edit:
Second thing that pops into my head is clutch switch.

To add onto this, I had a remote start installed last week and now my S mode never turns on. I tried the battery reset, tried pushing the button itself multiple times, it just altogether does not come on anymore not matter what I do. Took it to the shop that put my remote start in and they are pulling the ol' "that does not have anything to do with the remote start" bull ****, when they had to do a bypass for the clutch, push to start, and remote start wiring itself.... Any ideas on what I should do?

First thing first....remove that stupid remote starter, it will damage your clutch and transmission.

Second they closed the clutch switch so that the system always sees that the clutch is pressed and start the engine for the remote. BECAUSE of this your S mode will NEVER turn on while ur clutch is pressed.(i believe thats what they did)

PS S mode button connection coming lose, check it.

Why on earth does anyone want a remote start? Just a waste of gas....cars haven't needed to be warmed up before driving for years.

Why? To get that A/C going when is hot. I had a remote start on a truck i used to have and i loved it in the summer! Not something i would put on a sports car but hey.

That dude's system was installed improper, that's why things aren't working right.

Thanks for all the feedback, hoping to get it all working normal next week.... Yes, I live in central CA so it gets very hot in the summer that is the only reason why I had it installed.

Hey guys, it seems like I'm having the same problem and wondered if anyone had any opinions. I just recently got my clutch, flywheel, and cmak kit Installed. For some reason my S-mode warning light comes on when I try and turn s-mode on. Any ideas? Thanks!
