Your butt dyno will approve, the dyno at your local shop will show gains, your wallet will be fatter due to the increase in fuel economy, and your engine will be more responsive all around.

I tend to agree with you or I would not have just purchased a NST under-drive set (just arrived today BTW).

Very good quality parts too. Now if I can just get someone to install the things. I'd do it, but don't have a pulley puller and the last time I tried to do the job on my former Maxima SE...well...I ended up taking it to the shop anyway (could NOT get the bolt off...even with an impact wrench).

darrinps 02-19-2011 05:28 PM

Where are you guys getting the thing installed? Nissan dealer? Race shops?

I have called a half dozen places now and either they never call me back (Cobb) or won't touch it.

Never dreamed it would be this tough to find someone.

:shakes head:

Any independent dynos yet?
thanks

I have received my NST pulley kit today and want to thank you guys for this super fast delivery to Germany - it took about 1 week which is excellent for overseas USPS shipping including customs processing time.

Will let you know once I have it installed and dynoed !!

Chris

Thank you Chris. We hope you enjoy your pulleys as much as everyone else.

A note on dynos... you will want to try, as much as possible, to perform your before and after dynos on the same dyno on the same day in order to see the most accurate results.

I did not need a puller to get my stock pulleys off. My car only had 2,000 miles on it though. Just though id through my 2cents in. Great product by the way with no loss in voltage!!

So whats the method you used to remove the factory pulleys ?

i.e; air tools or hand tools ? what all needs to be removed in order to access
the pulleys ?

Excellent & Speedy transaction right on time for scheduled install. All, due to a situation with belt shortage, I was getting worried that I wouldn't get my pulley kit and belt on time for my appointment tomorrow.

Mike was very professional, reassuring and was able to overnight my items right on time for install tomorrow.

He even added soem m&m chocolate in the package :bowrofl:
Install review to come...A++ sponsor and will definitely do business with again. :tiphat:

Air tools are a definite must.

I am here at a garage. They have been working on this thing for an hour now and haven't even gotten the old pulley off. Said they were going to need to remove something (think he said alternator but he is Japanese and has a strong accent so I could be wrong).

How did you guys get this thing on? Did you go through the wheel well?

They are going from underneath.

darrinps 02-26-2011 12:40 PM

Well they have it off but the new one will not go on. The key slot is too small. Going to have to widen it. Ugh. :shakes head:

JB-370z 02-27-2011 10:26 AM

These guys rock. They came out to the Baker Tuning meet in Houston the other weekend. These are for sure top notch parts! Bet there would be some nice gains with my TT

daisuke149 02-27-2011 10:40 AM

Finnally got around to installing mine yesterday. Old pulleys came off smooth and new one went in smooth.

Weights:

Oem crank 4.75lb
Nst crank 1.25lb (thats with the powdercoat!!)

Oem alternator .45lb
Nst alternator .2lb (with the powdercoat )

So yes my pulleys are powdercoated pearl white. Why? Cus im a crazy a$$.

Did not dyno. But feels different in a good way. Maybe its mental but it def felt peppier on initial surging.

Curious. Did you do the work or did you have someone do it for you?

How long did it take?

My crank pulley required quite a bit of finish to get it to fit.

wasnt able to simply push the crank in but you can start it in. then just put in the crank bolt and turned the wrench and it pushed it in without trouble.

+1. The NST pulleys are made to be a tighter fit than stock. Making sure that the pulley is lined up STRAIGHT and using the crank bolt to walk it on the rest of the way usually works. A light bit of sanding also helps in certain rare cases.

Good luck and have fun with all your projects!

The thread appears to have cooled off a bit, so this might be a good time for an initial review of the NST pulleys post install.

Installation: I had the install done at Hills Garage (highly recommended shop) in Baltimore by Frank (Nissan Master Technician) and Suzanne; the install went as smooth as baby skin. I was worried about fitment, sanding issues or having to take the alternator out but luckily none of that happened. Install took a little over an hour and the car was ready to be picked up.

Parts: I went for the kit with the 2 pulleys and belt stock grayish finish, the parts looked great and very clean plus Mike@NST did provide a fantastic customer service along the way, kudos to you Mike.

Driving Review: The pulley kit is a great replacement for the vehicle so far, Triple nailed it when he stated something in his review about the car feeling smoother and having a better flow overall. Now compared to the stock pulleys, the NST pulley give a much better throttle and once again smoothness while switching gears and cruising. It may be just me but I feel like there is a power gain from the 3rd gear and above.

Overall, would I recommend the pulley kit so far based on the initial miles... absolutely yes. Will keep all posted on kit experience as mileage goes up.

I am confused, so if I want to buy this mod off your website, do I just need to buy the set of 2 or do I need to buy a belt as well. If so, is the belt shown on the same page with the pulley the one that I need to have the set of 2 installed? I own a 370z

Once I pay for it how soon would you guys post them?

Please let me know so I can get this asap thanks

jona1986129 03-20-2011 06:12 PM

bought and paid for them on Thursday but no email received yet. I thought u guys have them in stock?

It took them a while to get back with me and a while to get it in so I wouldn't stress over it just yet.

Very nice looking pulleys BTW. I did have one that needed to be sanded and the key slot slightly filed (can't really sand inside of it) so be mindful of that.

HUGE difference in weight -vs- the old ones and the voltage (I got the two pulley set along with the belt) is right where it was before too. Aside from the sanding issue, the pulleys really look like quality parts with some good looking anodizing done for sure.

Orders that are placed on Thurs or Fri usually can not be processed over the weekend. So these orders are typically filled on Mondays or Tuesdays.

We are not here to take your money or steal $199 from you. You should have an email with tracking info ASAP.

And as always, the fastest way to contact us is by phone and not on the forums.

Thanks again, good luck and have fun with all your projects.

It has been exactly 1 year since I had the pulleys installed. It is still flawless. I first reported an average MPG of 21.8 (from 21.6), but it is really 22.5.

I put Stillen's underdrive pulley on my car ages ago (been on for 14K miles now btw, no issues at all with it, just FYI for those scared of pulleys). I'd rather stick with the Stillen one since it's already on the car, but I might try out your 10% overdriven alternator pulley just to bring my alternator back up to speed a bit (since I'm running that tiny PC680 battery as well).

Anyone have a clue about how belt fitment would work out on that combo? I'm guessing the tensioner can make up the difference using the belt length Stillen specified, doesn't look like a huge change on that little alternator pulley.

unless you aren't producing adequate voltage to charge the battery I wouldn't worry about it, size of the battery in this case will have more to do with CCA than holding a charge.

Let's just say, with a 20% underdriven crank pulley and a motorcycle battery, whether the battery gets sufficient charge to keep starting the car depends largely on how you treat it. If I start it up and take it for a decent drive every day, it's fine. If I leave it cold for several days, and then go through a few start/stop cycles in the driveway testing something, it can get to the point where it won't start pretty quickly.

There are a lot of inbetween scenarios where I barely have enough CCA left to get the car going again after several short trips without a long recharge run (esp if it has recently been left off for days).
