Not another oil/filter thread...

When I got my oil cooler installed, the shop recommended that I use Shell Rotellat 15W-40 & Fram oil filter PH3950.

Your shop needs to re-think that recommendation.

What part? The weight, filter or oil type? Rotella synth is what my shop recommends as well, and I've used it for years on other cars.

The 15w40 is a bit out there. I was recommended a 5w40 as opposed to the stock weight.

I've never been a fan of fram filters.

I'm very surprised that nobody mentioned Royal Purple. I called Advance Auto Part and they said that I should get the PureOne 14612 not the 14610, any idea why? guess I will be running Royal Purple based on this article (I recommend you take a look):

If you go do some reading over at the forum I linked you to, you'll see that RP shears down pretty quickly.

That is due to the fact that Royal Purple is junk.

Because the 14612 is officially the correct size. The 14610 is longer. Just order it off of Amazon.

What part is confusing?

If you want to keep it simple, use Mobil 1 5-30 oil and a K&N HP-1008 filter. Purolator filter is good too.
