Not another oil/filter thread...
Well hello there everyone  first off i wanna say that i do realize that this topic has been discussed multiple times but i would like to get an updated discussion around this topic. First of all, i've had the Z nismo for about a month now and its time for an oil change, which brand oil/filter do you guys recommend? i figured i would buy my own oil and filter but what im concerned about is if i do so, and if somehow it ends up causing a problem to the car, will the dealership void the warranty and claim that they are not supposed to fix anything related since i used a different oil/filter?
Again im sorry because this is a repeated topic :happydance: any input would be appreciated |

Mobil 1 0w40 |
i do not have a driver's manual, but does it recommend 0w40 (regardless of weather conditions)?

Use 5-30 as the manual specifies. I use Redline 5-30 and K%N filter. |

How much do you believe oil has changed since the last time this was discussed? :ugh: |

Redline 5w30
Purolator PureONE 14612 (Shorter filter since I have an Oil Cooler w/ Thermostatic sandwich plate) |
Man I went through that same boat I just decided to go for 5/30 Mobil 1 and I've always used the Mobil 1 filter and I'm 71k on my z. I did run 10/30 royal purple but I was Naive and changed oil immediately. I was going to try 0/40 but why bother with that I mean our cars are designed for 5/30 oil.

DON'T OVER THINK OIL AND FILTERS!!!
Nissan engineers designed your Z - not the internet forums. The OM says 5W-30, dino or synthetic. Your call. Any SAE approved oil will work just fine. Just change it at regular intervals. Same goes for the oil filter. Now go get an oil change and drive your Z and quit worrying about oil types. |

When the question is about oil, the answer is to go do some reading over at Bob Is The Oil Guy.
