who can bore out a tb?

can any compitent machine shop bore out a tbh, flat edge the pivot piece, and re-size the plates accordingly? i've seen jun and mine's offer it, but im not willing to pay either of those companies anything near what they charge for this. anyone in this country that does it at a decent price?

AzSpeng 12-17-2013 05:08 PM

I can do this for you.

edub370 12-18-2013 07:46 AM

man you should start doing this for the forum. we are lacking real intake in depth intake mods!

AzSpeng 12-18-2013 08:43 AM

Consider it done. Show me what all needs to be done and lets formulate a plan of attack so I can get pricing up on the site and get a process in place.

Vnismo370z 12-18-2013 09:03 AM

Sub'd interested as well, also, why not use TB's from a bigger motor and mill your own adapter plate for coil your own bolt sizes?

edub370 12-18-2013 10:51 AM

looking at mines, it looks as thought the increase internal diameter by 2.5mm and polished. the tb shaft is flattened out to reduce turbulence and friction

not sure, but i think it requires a new tb plate to be machined.

if u can offer this for a couple hundred bucks and gains are seen, u will sell these like hotcakes!

synolimit 12-18-2013 12:49 PM

Grimmspeed ports and polishes.

I've contacted maxbore.com they can do it as well. I believe it's 99$ to bore and $35 for low profile screws and shaft per TB.

I also will do it for you guys ;)

Good deal.

We need more vendors, but advertizing your parts and services without being one usually results in a painful modslapping.

AzSpeng 12-18-2013 01:41 PM

done!

Yeah I know. Subi FTW but not one nissan part, weird.

Red_Z 12-18-2013 02:15 PM

Sub'd!!!

Rusty 12-18-2013 05:05 PM

I'm interested for sure. :D

edub370 12-19-2013 09:31 AM

anyone know what all is involved on the tuning end of things to make this work?

i.e., is this like an exhaust and you CAN run without a tune, but it won't optimize gains, or will this be something that makes the maf read differently and throw things outta whack?

are we looking at ~5hp here or what?

I can't see a huge power gain unless the intake pipe and manifold inlet is similarly increased in size, and that's going to take tuning. At that point, the increase from the TB alone may be lost in the noise. I can see it providing noticeably better throttle response. While you're at it, you might as well cut off and weld close the coolant nipples, and ceramic coat the outside to ward off radiant heat. Now you've got quite a bit of cost sunk into a part that may not make a whole hell of a lot of difference. It's a different story if you can DIY it.

Why?

Chuck33079 12-19-2013 01:02 PM

I'd rather not circulate hot coolant through the TB. I guess you could just cap them off, but if you're paying a company to do a "pro-quality" job I'd like closed up permanently.

Why not? :) Granted, some rubber caps would work just as well but, as long as you're going as far as boring and other mods, why not go ahead and seal 'em up?

7speed 12-19-2013 01:09 PM

Thats funny I was thinking about this the other day also and reached out to NWP that does a lot of stuff for vq35. Plus they recently released big bore tb for vq35 cars. On the 350z/G it dynos about 15hp. According to them. My buddy has on his Maxima and its definatley faster than before.

Hello,

I miss my Maxima and all your wonderful parts. Do you have anything in the works for 370z ie: big bore tb kit?
--------------------

Thank you for your interest. We definitely hope to have some new products for the 370z in the near future. But our current products are keeping us very busy.

But we do have several potential projects on the table, but I can't speak about them at this time.

Please keep in touch.

Thank you,

No I get that part, it's the welding. Mine are just pulled off and left open. If I ever wanted to reinstall the lines I'd just blow out the tubes and presto, all clean.

Chuck33079 12-19-2013 01:22 PM

Yeah, I'd rather not even have them there. The car's never going back to stock, and it's far from the most invasive thing done to it. :rofl2:

If I were doing the work, I'd be capping it off. If I were paying someone else to do it, I expect them to do a cleaner job than I would.

AzSpeng 12-19-2013 01:25 PM

Welding, machining, all of that stuff we can do in house ;)

synolimit 01-02-2014 12:53 AM

Grimmspeed said no. Still waiting on Z1 to reply.

luigi90210 01-02-2014 10:43 AM

Couldn't you use the 350z DE throttle body? Iirc that one is bigger than ours.

Alstann 01-11-2014 11:32 PM

AzSpeng, also something to note - we aren't the only market for this TB - we share throttle bodies with the GT-R. Same exact and everything.

If you can get some boring done for a great price, I'm sure you'll have the GT-R owners knocking down the door too. As I'm sure people charge the GT-R crowd an arm and a leg for anything.

AzSpeng 01-11-2014 11:32 PM

this was brought to my attention just the other day.

im ready to get it done...someone send me a tb.

Alstann 01-11-2014 11:41 PM

Damn...this is tempting. Maybe a goodwill deal if I can send you my TB? ;)

AzSpeng 01-11-2014 11:48 PM

cost of materials sounds fair to me

Alstann 01-11-2014 11:52 PM

PM sent. :D

AzSpeng 01-12-2014 12:05 AM

PM Replied!

synolimit 01-12-2014 12:06 AM

I want to send TB's and manifold but I'll be without a car. Any known time frame? Any chance you can find a set on eBay or junk yard then do a core program so people won't be without a car? Ask like $500 for everything but when we send our stock stuff back you refund minus the cost of the porting.

DEpointfive0 01-12-2014 12:10 AM

My throttle bodies will be sent to AZ soon.

AzSpeng 01-12-2014 12:16 AM

Ill have the components soon. I have a bunch of projects going on. Ill be posting a detailed list on the speng.us website listing progress of each project shortly.

gbrettin 01-12-2014 06:45 AM

Subbed. I'd be interested in doing this mod when you get the TB's worked out.

edub370 01-14-2014 08:12 AM

if you could do that throttle body/manifold package deal, we could be onto something here. i would imagine some decent gains in throttle response and hp from this

With a matched manifold and ported TB, alongside an un-necked MAF housing, there should be some decent gains. Cost wise, I could forsee it being a bit pricey, but that is the name of the game. Efficient power. I'm all for it. :driving:
