Are you leaving them polished Al, or will you be anodizing them colors as well?

AzSpeng 12-30-2013 11:15 AM

ill anodize almost all of them black and keep maybe 30-40 of them in raw aluminum. Could do colors but once we get the groupbuy rolling ill have everyone do a poll on which colors. it costs me $ per color per batch so its not cost effective to run a single of 1 color.

Understood. I would be interested to see a Red one myself... To go with my engine bay's aesthetics...

I'm noticing though, the pics look like the tank from 09-11 Nismo's and 2012+ bases.

What about the 09-11 base models? We have a different tank. It has just a plain black plastic cap.

DEpointfive0 12-30-2013 11:27 AM

Red black silver and blue are probably the top choices

Here's the set-up on pressure tank on my '13. The first cap on the radiator is just a sealing cap with no pressure relief spring. I presume the coolant in the radiator heats up and expansion moves it under pressure into the pressurized tank where it cools and then returns to the system. Here's a pic of the cap off the radiator.

And a close-up of the cap showing it's just a sealing cap with no relief spring.

The third pic shows the cap that is on the coolant tank which is a normal radiator cap. I think the idea of the system must be to increase the circulating capacity of the cooling system by 2-3 quarts. It's obviously not just an overflow system. I think this is the same type system on GT-R and the technology may have trickled down from that system.

Looks like to me someone swapped the two caps in their original positions.

I can verify that my 2012 Sport has the same setup - pressurized rad cap on the plastic overflow tank, and not on the metal spout.

AzSpeng 12-30-2013 12:17 PM

the pressurized tank does absolutely nothing for performance and you will not see any gains by having 1 style over the other.

I will make an adapter in the near future so that if you wanted to use either or then you can.

looking great!

I miiiiiiight have to get a quote or two from you on some round stuff soon. Making rounds in the verticals kinda sucks. But I dont have enough round part volume to justify a machine.

AzSpeng 12-30-2013 05:20 PM

i hear ya on that! this lathe is VERY FAST...shoot me a pm. I would love to take on some of your extra work.
