+1, no fram. Walmart sell 'em, so you know they aren't all that great.

Wix, K&N, Mobil1...several others.

K&N and Mobil1 are the same manufacturer, difference is the casing for the K&N have a nut on the bottom, and the Mobil1 filters cost less.

Just because WalMart sells Fram filters means that they're junk? That's a pretty broad statement to make with nothing to back it up.

Fram makes (some of) the worst filters.

Default Would take too long to explain about Fram

However, if you talk to folks in the know or go to bobistheoilguy.com you will read more then you want about filters. The opinions vary but most all agree that Fram is not anywhere near the top and many are far better and don't cost an arm and a leg. Pure One is a good example. The Mobil 1, K&N and Amsoil are all very good but costly. A word of advise, don't try to save a few bucks on an oil filter every six or so months because the filter is what is keeping that expensive oil clean...

I'm using the 51365 Wix filter. I'll be upgrading to the larger 51356 Wix filter as it has a better beta ratio.

Wix make great filters, and I plan on using them in the future. Plus, they are about 8 bucks a pop.

Hmm, I was inform that the WIX part no. 51358 is compatible with the 370Z according to the Amsoil web site. Does the WIX oil filter 51356 filter down to the typical 12 microns? Is their any change in the oil flow using the larger WIX filter?

I know everyone has there prefences on what oil filter is better and what's trash but keep this in mind if you follow the recomended oil changes that nissan recomends there aren't going to be any issues. Now if you do your own oil changes and decide to use an non nissan oil filter and that happens to fail don't cry when the dealer wont repair it under warranty but if you decide to use the nissan brand and it fails there isn't going to be an issue. just my two cents. and I know what are the odds.

That actually is an instance where the Ferguson-Moss Act applies...in terms of the oil filter.

Using your own maintenance schedule...well, they can deny a claim based on that easily enough...but, using a different brand of oil filter isn't something they can stand on.

I don't think it would be warranted under the Magnusson-Moss Act. The act you are referencing only applies if the aftermarket part used is unrelated to the failure. For example, they can't void your warranty on lets say your transmission because you have a cold air intake. But if you have a cold air intake and your airflow sensor fails, they could argue that its not warranted.

Likewise if you have an aftermarket oil filter and it bursts causing oil loss and engine damage, then the part you used actually was the cause of the damage and probably wouldn't be warranted. That being said, I doubt a high quality oil filter like some of the ones mentioned would actually burst but it does happen on occasion.

Some owners are using the K&N HP-1010 which is longer that the HP-1008 but seems to fit fine. You should be able to find these for $9.00 on the web.
