Default Replace O-Ring on Stillen Oil Cooler Kit?

Hey, guys. Wanted to ask your advice. Bought a used 25row Stillen Setrab oil cooler kit and see the o-ring seal on the thermostatic sandwich plate is a little damaged. Looks like the seal is almost gone-there's not much depth. Should this be replaced?

I called Stillen and they told me I had to buy the entire sandwich plate for like 50 bucks which I thought was kinda ridiculous and also told me to go have it measured...though it's damaged. I insisted on getting the specs on the o-ring so I can buy one and am waiting to hear back from them. Anyone know the o-ring specs or have advice?

Thanks

I don't have specs, although I'd replace it

If you text me tomorrow I will call the manufacturer of the plate and get the price
(I can get those plates for $30 shipped) (31O)eight nine three-42O7

I REALLY had to hold my tongue to not BASH Stillen on the price of the plate

Stillen doesn't make the adapter, it is a 3rd party. I can tell you it is not Mocal since their seal is much larger and wider.

Edit: DE.50 knows whats what.

I'd replace the seal any time it was used and sandwich plate removed

Cool, thanks. Do you think they can provide the o-ring specs? That'd be awesome! I will txt you tomorrow.

Thinking about getting a Viton® Fluoroelastomer O-Ring so I have something to withstand the temps better.

Haha..so I called Stillen again today and they confirmed that the plate was not manufactured by them and told me they won't tell me who manufactures it, nor will they get me the dimensions of the o-ring so I can replace it.

They also pushed their solution which was to buy the entire sandwich plate for 48.95 plus shipping.

From a quick Google image review I would say Hayden Automotive. You'll have to do some measurements to find the exact one.

Hey Critical, I just bought the same exact cooler from a member and it's on its way to me. I had planned on checking the o-rings and seals before I put it on then came across your post.

Please let me know what you end up doing. Thanks!

Ding ding ding, you sir, have found the correct answer (plate is model 243)

I called them today and no real answer as to what they could do, but they did take my address, so I think they are sending me a few

Take the o-ring (or the whole plate) to an industrial parts store. They should be able to match it up. Viton should work well for this application. Nitrile/Buna-N is another good choice.

Called up Hayden Automotive. Tech support connected me to the guy in charge of these parts and he looked up the specs for me.

O.D 2 and 3/4 inch

Thickness 1/8th inch

There's a Grainger down the street, and they were awesome. Picking up a 10 pack (lol) of Viton o-rings tomorrow. Will comment on their fitment tomorrow.
