I imagine there won't be and destruction of the valves/pistons, etc, since the timing of the cams should still keep everything intact...

Still, it doesn't have a cam in the traditional sense...

Nothing will happen, other than the car will go into limp mode ,and will not rev much above idle. Nothing will be destroyed...I promise. It still has a defined range of operation, and that range will not break anything.
