7amt
Whenever i am in sport mode should i let the car downshift by itself or am i better doing it myself never could decide. Another big thing about it is it bad to push it over in sport mode whiling driving could it dang the trans.

:tiphat: Just having some fun, I have nothing against AT cars. :driving: And I guess to be on topic and give a reply to the OP, and agree with nepali, why would you be in sport mode and let it auto downshift? It does defeat the purpose of the sport mode really. If I had the 7AT I'd always downshift on my own in sport mode. If I wanted to drive lazily I'd set it in normal AT mode and try to relax (would be nice in rush hour). |

If I'm in manual mode, I'll only downshift to 3rd. The lower ones are too much jerk for the tranny imo. Plus it's hard to judge the "correct" rpms to shift at since they're so short.

and usually absolutely no issue going from auto to manual mode in the AT's. |

To answer his question 1) doesn't hurt to let the car downshift when coming to a stop 2) I would try to not shift if you're on it hard in Auto, I would wait until the car is at an even speed. |

I think we should set'em up on a date so they can swap cars. :ugh2: |

I always drive in sport mode, it's ok to downshift how ever you want. If you run a chance of harming the motor/trans the car will not let you down shift,

ok thank you i just dont want my trans to start knocking on me from d%#& around. Another question did i make a bad decision on going with the 7AMT.

But no, you didn't. If it makes you happy, that's the only thing that matters. And stock for stock with comparable :driving:, the 7AT is faster. |
especially when one can't drive MT. lol :icon17:

There are benefits to both, and with the sport mode & paddle shifters you kind of (kind of) have a MT. For rush hour traffic I bet it's a godsend. |
Quote:
honestly i dont see any upside to a 6MT over a 7AT. 7AT wins in all categories really. ease of use, faster, more comfortable, etc... |

However, for me it gives my left leg something to do. I've had surgery on it and if it just sits there it goes completely numb, then feels like it's burning from the inside (stupid nerves). A clutch pedal fixes that, giving it something to do and keep in motion somewhat. |
...And everyone is going AT. Us MT guys just want to be different.
Maybe it makes the car harder to steal (w/o a flatbed) too, as most kids/thieves don't know how to drive stick. :icon17: <--- not sure if it's true, but kind of funny. |
