That's it! I was wrong about the throwout bearing...it was the forks that I was thinking of. My memory worries me.

in some transmissions you will kill the forks and sliders not sure if it apllies to the z but i dont think so. My old swift was like that, sister drove it for a week and liked to push on the shifter all the time and it was done.
