Got it now.. I could not see-read the "NON" part only saw the LSD :icon14:

That being said if I find a used one just make sure it says LSD correct?

Thanks again :tiphat:

yep or sport model or nismo or sprt+touring, or just get a base model as the quaife for the base diff is $200 cheaper than the one for the lsd rear end.

chuckie311 10-23-2013 11:51 PM

they wont be in till December as well.. I was there today and had my gears installed but bushings wont be in till Dec..10

That's what I'm doing ;)

Seb told me he's getting the whiteline diff bushings this week, that's what I'm waiting on before I take my car over to em.

I ordered the bushings from Z1 but they said they're sold out till december or something crazy so I just asked Seb to get em for me. Hopefully he'll have em soon.

1slow370 10-24-2013 02:48 AM

I was talking to the whiteline sales reps at FD round 7 and they said that they are having issues with keeping stock on this bushing and that a 370 bushing would be coming out in next couple moths. He was sales tho so take that with a grain of salt.

Hi guys, will I still need shims if I get the Quaife + 370Z Factory Manual Diff (3:69) for my 7AT?

I would really love to go 4:08 but in Singapore, the nissan dealership is poorly stocked and ordering of shims would mean 2 weeks. I will end up paying twice the labour because the workshop will first have to remove the parts from my car, measure the shim thickness, put everything back and let me drive off first. Then again when the shims arrive.

Unless I try to make a guess and order a few pieces of shims with various thickness? Any advise please?

1slow370 10-24-2013 07:45 PM

you will need a couple shims for the side to side unless you get lucky, but you shouldn't have to move the pinion so you can leave the crush spacer and seals and front bearings and shims alone. You will also want to replace the ring gear carrier bearings any time you change the center section out. so you need the ring gear carrier bearings, and maybe shims any time you install a new lsd into a pumpkin.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I also seen some mention about an install kit for the gears, may I know where I can find this kit?

So to summarize, if I want to go 4:08 on my 7AT + Quaife I will need:

1) Ring Gear Bearing (Could you kindly advise part numbers?)

2) 4:08 Gears From Z1Motorsports

3) Install Kit (Kindly advise where I can get this kit from)

4) Pumpkin (Can I use my existing stock pumpkin??)

5) Shims

Is that all?

Thanks!

this is part of an email i got from whiteline a few weeks ago:

"At this stage we have a huge list of new development but we hope to release more parts for the 370z later this year"

so we're low priority it seems lol

Hi,

Did you end up getting the Quaife for manual or auto or vlsd? Mine is the 7AT sports with vlsd too but don't know which Quaife to get for the 4:08 install.

1slow370 10-25-2013 10:56 AM

If you want a quaife and 4.08 then u need a manual pumpkin, and a manual quaife for the type of manual pumpkin you buy. Then get the gearset from z1 and select the install kit option at the bottom.

Darn, so only the non-sport 7AT models could use back their own pumpkins? How much would a manual pumpkin cost? Any online store I can purchase cheap from? And I need the manual pumpkin from VLSD model right?

1slow370 10-25-2013 11:51 AM

No 7at fits the manual gears and carrier correctly. There was a guy that did if i remember correctly he sent his to a shop and they had to sim the hell out of it. There is no difference between the sport and non sport automatic pumpkins other than the lsd stuff

Just so to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. I have a sports model 7AT with factory VLSD. You are saying I can use my own pumpkin? All I need is to buy the 4:08 gears and Quaife for VLSD and maybe lots of shims?

If you have already VLSD in your car, why would you buy another one???

Because I didn't read enough on this subject, I don't know what was posted about having to get a manual trans. pumpkin. ANYONE????

chuckie311 10-25-2013 12:15 PM

Because the Quaife VLSD will preform 100 times better than the stock that a good reason why..
1slow370
you are wrong if you have the 7at you need to switch to a manual pumpkin otherwise the aftermarket gears will not fit!!

1slow370 10-25-2013 01:07 PM

No thats what i tell people to do is swap to the manual pumpkin BUT there is one guy who CLAIMS its possible to reuse an auto case i will dig it up abd you can tell him hes wrong.

I love how no one can read back through through this thread to count the number of times i have said what you need to do this.

In fact the guy is back on page 3 or 4 ask him he needed 6 shims to do it.

I hear that all the time.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Now I'm not looking for an argument, but what's wrong with stock VLSD???

I had a 2004 & a 2008 N/A that I also drag raced with slicks & had no problems. It may be that I was lucky & others are having problems. So please tell me what problems was I supposed to have?????

We're also are talking about an automatic car that won't pop the clutch at 5k+ like I did.

So what problems do people have????

andre12031948 10-25-2013 02:58 PM

Is it like telling a guy that wants to dive into a pool, "you better put on the oxygen tanks" ???:icon17: Sorry. I'll be patient. Maybe I learn something.

1slow370 10-25-2013 09:51 PM

i have owned both the vlsd and the quaife and there is a world of difference as soon as you stop going straight. Drag racing the vlsd gets the job done, but when you take your car to the other kind of track you will notice a TON more grip in the back than you have with the vlsd. Easing on the power coming out of a corner ANY LSD is better than the factory to a very noticeable degree. And the beaty of the quaife is when you're not at the track it is just as quiet and smooth as the viscous. the quife also lasts longer and has a lifetime warranty, and also like stock never requires maintenance.

Thanks a lot for your frequent feedback.

I don't track but mostly just want quicker acceleration on occasion drag races. So getting the Quaife would be overkill?

critical 10-26-2013 10:18 PM

having a quaife and gears is never overkill lol

What's the story ????

I remember reading something about swapping a manual's trans rear pumpkin if you want to replace a plain one with one that has limited diff.

Is that correct? I have a whole M/T pumpkin w LSVD, I mean VLSD :icon23: and I'm looking at a base automatic 370. Is that the one ^^^ I swap to get VLSD??????

Thanks

if it's from a 370z, just bolt it in, the whole pumpkin.

But it's got to be from a m/t car. That's what I read here, I think. That does NOT just bolts in, I think. Oh yes, WITH 3:90 or 4:08 gears, SORRY!!!

you said you have a manual pumpkin.

:icon14:

i'm checking out of this thread lol

blumango 11-05-2013 08:26 PM

Hi,

I am looking for a shop to supply me a manual pumpkin and the gears (4:08) to fit into my 7AT (VLSD). Tried contacting Z1 a few times but they aren't replying. Anywhere else I can try?

blumango 11-06-2013 06:20 PM

Or does anyone know the exact part number for either manual pumpkin from 350z or 370z so I can try the local dealerships?

Try ebay for the 370z manual pumpkin... I found one before but did not purchase because it was a non-sport version.

Must I really get a sport manual pumpkin? I have the sport 7AT with VLSD. Can I use a non-sport manual pumpkin and swap my VLSD over?

binary0x01 05-27-2014 11:28 PM

I'm getting the same thing done except with a quaife lsd.

Seb's gonna do it as well :) I also only trust him with my car; him and LJ.
