Default socket sizes for oil drain plug and cover bolts

First oil change ... don't have a full socket set ... what is the socket size for the 12 mm engine oil drain plug and the four 10mm bolts for the under cover flap? The service manual mentions that the Z uses both "previous standard" and "new standard" bolt sizes which have different widths across the flats. It looks like the socket for the drain plug is either 17 mm or 18 mm, and for the cover bolts, its either 14 mm or 16 mm.

Thanks.

I'm so confused here. Are you asking us what size sockets you need for a 12mm and 10mm bolt? 12mm and 10mm.

Oil drain plug should be 14mm socket if its the original drain plug.

I am referring to the width across the head flats (the socket size) which is larger than the bolt diameter.

Go buy yourself some new sockets on a Black Friday sale. Then use a 10mm socket on the cover bolts and a 14mm on the oil drain.

14mm socket = Width across head.

The bolt is a M10x1.25mm thread pitch if I recall correctly.

The cover bolts use a 10mm socket (M6x1.00mm thread pitch).

The drain plug size is M12 X 1.25.
