Default consumption after bold on?

So I have decided to start yet another interesting thread. ALL OPINIONS ARE APPRECIATED. So out of the hundreds of us that decided to add bolt on parts to our car (intake and exhaust mostly), how much oil have you consumed more based on when you were running stock?

For example, I noticed that my Z would consume approx 1/8 in. of oil off of the dipstick. I am a reasonable guy and had decided to chalk it up to it being a high performance motor, it will consume a little bit of oil. I just installed a aftermarket exhaust ( will remain nameless due to the fact that it won't matter what exhaust you use, anything other than stock will open the flow up) and have noticed that I have conusmed almost 3/4 in of oil off of full.

So in conclusion, have you noticed since doing basic mods like intake and/or exhaust has effected the amount of oil consumed. Also how many of you/us have gotten your engines replaced having bolt on parts on your car.

I have a Stillen G3, test pipes, and a full exhaust, my god damn 2009 doesn't burn a drop of oil... At 3800 miles when I went in the level went down maybe 1mm...
It's weird because I SMELL oil, but my car just doesn't consume any oil... ;-(

Yes, I'm sad because I want the engine replaced, lol

I don't think bolt-ons really should increase your oil consumption... I know it makes more power and such, but it's not enough to justify a lot more oil being burned off

BTW, how many miles did your car have and how many miles on the oil when you were checking???

If it is still under warranty, put it back to stock and take it to the dealer. You may get a new engine out of the deal.

Im checking my oil once a week (500 miles a week commute) and it would normally only burn off 1/8 in from top mark on the dip stick. I had checked my oil after installing the exhaust and it looked a little bit lower than normal. After installing it this last saturday I checked it yesterday and that was when I noticed that it was half way between H and L. I know bolt on parts wont' cause a engine to burn more oil. But it does release a lot of back pressure causing more vaccum in the engine, that does sound correct doesn't it?

The only reason an engine already consuming oil would consume MORE oil after a bolt-on is installed is if you are running the car harder.

You install an exhaust....you want to hear that exhaust. You install a BOV, you want to hear it sound off every time you shift gears. It's the curse of building a car.

Just my take on the subject. No offense is meant to anyone.

Hahahaha Dustin you are such a funny guy! The reason why I started the thread was to see if there is an increase in consumption when bolt on parts are installed. yeah yeah yeah the curse of building a car I know. I find it extremely strange that no matter how hard I ran the car before I did not burn off as much oil as I have this week. It looks as if something gave or let loose.

yeah im really good friends with the dealership service manager and informed him today that there has been a surge in consumption. This will be the second oil consumption test on this car.

not meaning to be rude, but from day one my oil has always been at the halfway point between H and L and has never been higher or lower than that and i believe the very same thing was talked about in another thread as to where the oil should be at on the dipstick.

P.S.

i bought my Z brand new with only 5 miles on it from the factory.

The high/low marks on the dipstick indicate the acceptable range for the amount of oil in the engine. As long as the oil level is anywhere in between the marks your good to go. I keep mine at the high mark. Oh, and my car doesn't burn oil.
