The 305 baseline was with Gen3, test pipes, invidia gemini and John's tune.

Current setup:
Stillen Gen 3 intakes
Momentum VQ35DE Headers
Test pipes
Straight exhaust with glass pack mufflers

Tuned by John @ Z1, played with the VVEL tuning too.

king12sky 11-01-2012 06:05 PM

Wad??!!!!!!!!! Does the headers help alot?

Red__Zed 11-01-2012 06:10 PM

Nice #s

Mike 11-01-2012 06:10 PM

yes, the headers help a ton. Z1 shop car has them also and they also so close to a 30hp gain.

LakeShow 11-01-2012 06:19 PM

Pretty impressive!

king12sky 11-01-2012 06:19 PM

Dang, are they the same as the stillen headers?

GaleForce 11-01-2012 06:20 PM

Major gains! Nice.

Mike 11-01-2012 06:20 PM

no, they are for a 350z, and Momentum is now out of business. They just require 350z test pipes to fit the 370.

m4a1mustang 11-01-2012 06:21 PM

Nice!

Cell 11-01-2012 06:22 PM

is this real? lol that is a lot for just headers.

Is our headers that inefficient? How does the car feel now?

Edit: I also wonder how this would do with a BP or STS turbo kit.

reldas 11-01-2012 06:29 PM

??? so you used 350z headers? and wouldnt the stillen ones provide the same gain, from what i read they dont

Mike 11-01-2012 06:32 PM

Its real, I'm the second car with this setup with similar results. Mine are a little higher due to the rest of my exhaust though.

The car isn't registered for the street, but I snuck it out for a quick run from 1st through 4th gears and it definitely feels much more powerful. Find out for sure when I go back to the track next month.

king12sky 11-01-2012 06:33 PM

I was planning to used some tomei 350z headers with z1 pipes but they r too much work n cost forninstallation. =[

I bet that made a ton of difference up top -- at least 10-15 whp any details on what he changed? More lift? Changes in overlap?

When will these maps be open to tuners??? :excited:

I don't know the particulars. I know I was around 330 before tuning. I don't think he used a canned map though.

Well, then -- my guess was probably correct :)

You picked up 10-15 whp from a tune that also made use of VVEL adjustments.

Please see if you can get any more info :tiphat:

Megan370z 11-01-2012 07:01 PM

those number in STD look good !
I ended at 330 last year and im pretty sure with some VVEL tuning it would be pretty the same as you !

Mike 11-01-2012 07:03 PM

they said the only thing left I can do for more is exhaust cams. maybe in a few months :)

Jordo, just PM John@Z1 for info. He is the tuner.

leighspped 11-01-2012 07:05 PM

b1adesofcha0s 11-01-2012 07:07 PM

I also lost 40 pounds by getting rid of AC, swapping radiator, headers and transmission mount.

I can't believe I lost 16 pounds on the headers alone!

Lol thanks for the shopping list!!! I don't want to ditch the ac bc I still need to drive to the track :(

u ditch the radiator and ac at the same time I'm guess?

Any 1:1 or 5th gear pull?

speedfreek 11-01-2012 07:20 PM

Great numbers....the beast keeps getting leaner and meaner

anthonyy 11-01-2012 07:29 PM

Mike 11-01-2012 07:47 PM

Headers 16

I don't know what gear they dyno in, but hitting redline in 1-3 and then going into 4th on the street was probably a little more than I was comfy with as it was without registration or insurance

Yutnaka 11-01-2012 08:38 PM

Makes me want to get headers now! Impressive dyno. Z1 should copy the design for a direct fit for 370z.

Rusty 11-01-2012 09:28 PM

Nice Mike. I'm now wondering about this with FI LTH's.

Jordo! 11-01-2012 10:07 PM

Mike, any chance you can get the drf's? If so, would you mind emailing them to me for my database at jlitman@mail.usf.edu ?

MyKindaGuise 11-01-2012 10:41 PM

Congrats Mike! Damn fine results sir!

MD-370z 11-01-2012 10:47 PM

This header set up shows more gains than fi Long tube headers?

blackonorange 11-02-2012 12:26 AM

Mike why did you decide to go with those headers

gabe3d 11-02-2012 07:23 AM

Impressive gains especially considering that the entire power band got shifted vertical.

because Z1 had already shown similar gains on their own car. More gains than some long tube prototypes that they had developed, and they wanted to verify the gains with my car.

btw, Momentum is no longer in business, but Z1 is developing their own version of this header, specifically for the 370. They should have a package available soon.

apparently he knows something we dont!

so if i am already dyno tuned could i expect another 10-15whp gain? if so i will be around 340whp as well :stirthepot:

im liking the numbers that are starting to come outta these motors lately

Rob@Z1 11-02-2012 08:37 AM

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to work on this beast Mike!

Here is your before/after graph.
