Default battery gauge

Hey guys,
Was just curious about something. I bought my car on March 2011. It is now August 2012 and my battery gauge has not dropped in levels. It hovers around 14-16 all the time. I assume over time, the battery levels would decrease?

Batteries usually last several years. But the more important note is that after driving your car, the voltage will probably always read 11-12 or so. Even if a battery has low charge capacity, the inital voltage will be near normal levels, unless the battery is really on it's last legs, where it wont hold a charge at all. Same goes for voltage during driving - the alternator is constantly charging the battery to full.

My last car had a battery that lasted 4.5 years. ^^

Oh ic. I was thinking along those lines where the battery would charge while driving. Thanks for your input

Must be nice. Out here you're lucky if it makes it to two years with this Summer heat.
