Default 110 Octane Leaded? (No Cats)

I've found a place that sells 110 octane, but it's leaded. I don't have cats, since I'm running ART Pipes, and I am tuned. But I'm still wondering about what detrimental side effects there could be to our motors? Any issues with mixing leaded and unleaded? I've been told no there aren't, and I know some bikers that do it all the time.

But still, better safe than sorry, so I figured it's best to ask around.

It may screw up the O2 sensors -- stick with unleaded. Why do you need to run 110 anyway?

Just wanted to try it out for the hell of it. I have a tune that is capable of supporting a higher octane.

I've heard that you can't do leaded in a motor intended to do unleaded. Period. I'm sure if you dumped money into the VQ you could make it run leaded... although I would push the car out of the garage and maybe another 100 feet away before starting.

Instead of doing leaded fuel, why not go with unleaded, oxygenated fuel.

Also, is that leaded fuel purple in color?

Be wary with the booster off the shelf, as far as i can tell, the stuff in the bottle is 104 octane, or whatever it advertises, it won't make your tank that high, it's next to useless for the most part.

You can run leaded in just about any car. Plenty of guys run it in their GT-Rs, it does have the potential to mess up the 02 sensors. Just go with VP109 which is unleaded. The color depends on the manufacturer, VP C16 which is leaded is blue. Don't run octane booster it does absolutely nothing, there are plenty of test out there that prove that.

^^^ This

Toluene will definitely raise you about a full point or two, but I'm not sure how corrosive it is over time (a few guys on here really love the stuff, and I'm sure can chime in with more detailed info).

As you did mention before, Race gas won't do much on your stock tune, unless your tune is bad and you're pinging, or knocking, on regular pump fuel. I would only run racegas in the event that you can take advantage of the slower burning fuel by running more timing or leaner AFR's. If you're sticking with the same tune, pump 93 is probably your best bet.

I wouldn't. I didn't think you could legally buy leaded gasoline anymore. It might also destroy your cats.

You can buy it still. He doesn't have cats so that's not an issue (but it will wreck cats). As other have mentioned, it will eventually foul your O2s. Finally, it tends to leave some white residue on your exhaust tips that can be a pain to clean.

Hunting down a solid octane booster may prove to be a difficult task in the US, it seems. I'll avoid the leaded fuel.

You can definitely order big canisters of fuel from VP. You just generally have to go through a distributor. Any speed/tuning shop or even places that sell propane should be able to get it for you.

Or, google the Sunoccos around you -- some of them have 100 AKI unleaded at self-serve pumps. Not as good as 109, but way better than 93 or 94.
