Yeah, I'd love to have a emergency plan if my transmission ever ***** the bed.

LafitteZ 07-09-2013 09:08 AM

Contacted the place and I got a call back. The guy said if I contacted him last year he would've considered it. They was recently bought by a huge oem company. For me to make a order it would have to be for 100000 units. I was like F U C K that lolol. He asked his manager what to do with customers who call like me and he said he didn't get an answer from his boss. I'm going to call back and see if they can point me in the right direction. If not its back to the drawing board.

That's too bad.

If his company no longer has any interest then perhaps he would be willing to hand over the parts list for others to build from.

LafitteZ 07-09-2013 01:15 PM

They still do them but they do them for the large car manufactures. They make things like carbon auto tranny disks and carbon clutch pressure plates. There a huge operation.

Rebuilt Transmission

Is it RSGear that rebuilt your 370Z transmission?

LafitteZ 07-11-2013 06:12 PM

Nope Chris carver Motorsports.

Mitco39 07-12-2013 11:02 AM

Ok, so next question.

How much you want for your trans? haha

LafitteZ 07-13-2013 11:49 AM

Lolol I wouldn't trade it for the world. That's why I'm on a crusade to get these parts. We should all be able to experience it.

Alstann 07-24-2013 07:23 AM

Any luck on finding a way to get those parts? I'm currently hunting around for a supplier, and a transmission builder that can get this together for me sometime later this year.

LafitteZ 07-25-2013 06:20 AM

I'm waiting on a answer back now from another place. I wonder nobody has ever tried these in a Nissan or infiniti. Every company iv talked to say they have never had some inquire about Nissan carbon synchronizes.

theDreamer 07-31-2013 04:51 PM

I spoke with SSP in Houston, who builds mostly DCT, but they are interested.

Does anyone have an exact idea of what parts they need to look into and acquire. Any help would be good to see if they can handle it.

Did you get any follow-up on this? My 2nd manual trans is grinding from 6 to 5. Would like this fixed for good; hopefully beefed-up too.

theDreamer 12-27-2013 01:06 PM

No, I think they got focused on other projects.

fuct 12-27-2013 04:35 PM

ka24king 12-08-2015 11:03 AM

Any updated threads on this??

BadChachi 01-03-2016 07:16 PM

any update on this or the parts?

cdoxp800 12-19-2016 01:20 PM

So guys, I just dropped my 2011 Trans off the Chris to build up for me. I am active track junky and was going on my third transmission for 5th gear syncro issues. So rather then buying another transmission that may last me a year, I decided after talking with Chris to have it built. He has a few great ideas for correcting some short comings in the transmission to help it cope with the Track stress.

So STAND by folks

JARblue 12-19-2016 01:59 PM

Mmmm...

So what I know is:
  1. The removal of slop inside the transmission.
  2. Some shiming of the detent pins for a firmer gear engagement
  3. Other little miscellaneous improvements.
Since my scynros are shot he is replacing all of them as well as my 5th/6th broken shift fork.

Now to under stand some more on the history of my trans, mine failed Soon after switching to Redline MT85. Not saying this was the cause, but before I swapped fluid I was running Motul Motylgear 75W90.

the Second Transmission I had put the same Redline MT85 in, and lasted 3 track day weekends. It's still in the car now, but has issue.
So we are looking in to fluids as well to help with scynro life as well.

We also noticed some wear on the 5th/6th shift fork,on the 5th gear movement side. This is most likely caused my the natural rotation of my shoulder when shifting to 5th. The rotation is a motion that when I shift, I am adding about 5 degrees of angle (to the right) to the upward movement when shifting to 5th. This is something I will have to correct when shifting.

Hope this helps

lj909 12-20-2016 03:22 PM

Do you suspect that the redline mt-85 is maybe not the best option?

Ccarver 01-17-2017 06:57 AM

Set up an account so I can post pictures of the build and help address any issues we have found and resolved.

JARblue 01-17-2017 07:01 AM

Great to have you here, Chris. Looking forward to the knowledge you can share with the community :tiphat:

Elmo370z 01-18-2017 01:07 AM

So now some upgraded transmission parts for the 6 speed?

Btalont 01-23-2017 12:35 PM

Really appreciate any information, part numbers and knowledge! Thanks Chris!

HAHA first one to like the image.
Looking forward to developments. I needed to slow down my shifts to make my tranny happy. Would love to be able to shift full speed.

RN SHARK 03-28-2017 05:14 PM

Just last week I lost 5th and 6th gear while at VIR, so I need a fix very soon. Will I be able to rebuild this trans or should I buy a new OEM one?

TerribleONE 03-28-2017 05:37 PM

Subd..

derraj06 03-30-2017 03:01 PM

Also curious what the ideas may be and parts. I have a lot of abuse on mine with no issues but upgrading is always an option.

Test box is in A car and reviews are good so far. Let's see what a good track weekend holds and I will be putting the carbon lined syncros in the spare box to test next.

I can rebuild it, all the parts are available still and the improved parts are modified parts from other manufacturers.
