yep it cost me much less then a new trans. Like my mechanic said the trans will be much tighter and much stronger because of all the little things that go into it he himself will be the one putting it together and not on some assembly line somewhere so he will pay much more attention to detail. As for the synchros this car is my daily driver so I drive minimum 50 miles a day so they will get tested and not to mention its boosted and I dont believe in driving a 600 horse power car like ms daisy so im probably the best candidate for this test. after feeling it and driving it I think I could drive it till the wheels fall off but wel see.

then take the 4.08 gears out of the rear and put the oem ones back in it. or do a 3.9 gear in the rear.
|
The gear sets are pretty expensive. One would wonder if you could use a taller gear setup from a different nissan but that takes a ton of research. The after market os giken gear sets are like 3000 just for gears which are absolutly a rip off but thats what it is. So only idea to keep cost down would be to mabe use a taller gearset from another nissan car but if I were you id just go down to i think its a 3.9 ring and pinion.

Sry Iv been busy and really havnt had much time to update this thread. I'm about 5000 miles in and the trans feels solid even wayyyyy better then it did out the factory. Now the only thing is it no longer feels or sounds like a factory tranny. When you go to shift it that mutha shifts. The Kevlar synchros are unbelievable. You can feel it engage and release. Now unfortunately it isn't smooth anymore but I drive it daily and it isn't bad at all. I'm running 560 WHP and when I step on it and shift it has no hesitation at all. It almost makes you shift to the next gear because of the spring mods he also does to it. The shifter actually feels like it pulls itself into gear. All in all so far I love it. It does have a little bit higher whine sound but nothing even close to being unbearable.

What shop did all the work? What were the details behind the upgrade (beside ford syncros),

I tryed to do a run of those synchros about a year ago and no one showed any interest so i just dropped it. Im still running the setup with no problems so far. I really dont know anything about the parts. The mechanic who did the work knew something. Everybody shut me down when I was going to try to get a few made. These are one off parts not sold to the public. They were from some race team out of California he was good friends with. I havnt talked to him in a good minute.

Lol... In all seriousness I think there would be a good market for this, and some good money to be made going by your reviews and how yours is holding up. Anyway to get this going again? :tiphat: |
