JUN exhaust cam shaft finally arrived

Just got these in the mail this morning, special thanks to Ben and 370ztune.com for hooking me up with these. I managed to take a few cell phone pics of the package and what it contains in it. First of all the package was packed really nicely, each cam shaft is bubble wrapped individually, and put in its own separate box, each box is labeled one left and one right, so be sure not to mix them up, and all of this comes packed in a larger box filled with Styrofoam, so more or less the packaging is solid. The box also contains a Jun product catalog and a Jun decal. The down side is that there was no instructional manual what so ever as to the install of the cams, which from what i have noticed with JDM parts is pretty typical, they fill there packages with promotional fliers and stuff but neglect to include any kind of instruction manual on the install, guess they assume that people will just figure out how to install it lool

So now i just have to settle on a dependable shop to fix the cams and we are all good to go, but first thing is first, will get the car upreved and dynoed before the installation of the cams, so that i get it re tuned once the cams are on so we can get an idea to the gains that they will give, wish me luck guys

I'm definitely interested in gains vs total costs including labor. It would also be interesting to see its drivability as well as exhaust note change I'm excited with you and its not even mine!

babbagandu 04-12-2012 11:40 AM

Looking at the other thread about these cams it says the price is about $630. But I swear I had seen another post that had a breakdown of costs and it was actually like 3k. I can't remember what I was looking at tho. OP what did this cost you?

TerribleONE 04-12-2012 11:46 AM

probably around 3k with install..

That was with everything, including a ~10000yen replacement VVEL actuated iirc

sfearl1 04-12-2012 11:52 AM

_I see. But it looks like OP ordered the cams only. So I'm guessing it was decided that the cams did not require other modifications to the engine and also an uprev tune would be sufficient?

zuperman 370 04-12-2012 12:37 PM

install will be done just as soon as i tune the car before anything so that we see the gains after install and re tune.

the 3k pricing that you saw includes the whole package the vvel assembly etc, but according to jun you dont need that, you will not need to replave the vvel assembly if the installer is careful and capable.

The cams took approximately 2 weeks to arrive directly from jun japan from the time i placed my order with 370ztune.

And no engine modifications will be needed to install the cams, they run on oem springs without problems, a tune will be recommended though

phelan 04-12-2012 12:41 PM

i thought it was discussed that you should go for new springs anyway? don't remember the original thread.

If OP can actually get the gains that JUN claims then I'm in

edub370 04-13-2012 09:32 AM

the suspense of this mod is killing me. if he can get a 25+whp bump then there will be a line out the door to get these things.

(*in homer simpson voice*) mmmm... 350na whp....

TerribleONE 04-13-2012 10:05 AM

Ya but I doubt he will be able to get that much... especially when JUN themselves say 15-18. I think it is rare for a mod to actually make MORE than the company claims. Usually it is less... but hopefully I am wrong! If they do make 18whp then I will definitely do this mod

Oh and btw, every time I see your avi I want to smash my screen with a hammer. Change it to something better plz!:gtfo2::rofl2:

zuperman 370 04-13-2012 10:08 AM

We talked to jun they claim 15-20 hp with just an exhaust system and a tune
