i may have maybe a dumb question but,does down shifting on a 6mt add to oil consumption problems?

I think it does. When you lift on a auto car, it upshifts and keeps RPM low. When you drive spirited in an MT car and you lift, you usually do more engine braking at a higher RPM. I can definitely see where downshifting, and more importantly engine braking, can have an adverse effect on oil consumption.
