Base 370z Differential Question

correct me if im wrong but i believe an open diff. still turns both rear wheels but it constantly supplies the same power Vs. LSD that transfers the power to

correct me if im wrong but i believe an open diff. still turns both rear wheels but it constantly supplies the same power Vs. LSD that transfers the power to the wheel with better traction. right ??

I can live with that, just the thaught of one wheel drive with a sports car makes me uneasy.

An open differential transfers power equally if there is equal traction, however that is seldom the case and you'll easily get a one wheel peel exiting a corner.

The viscous LSD in the sport isn't great but it's better than an open diff.

The easiest way to tell if you have an open diff , is put the rear on jack stands, and turn one tire, if the other tire spins the opposite direction , it's an open diff ; if it turns int he same, it's got a LSD.

Note that Helical limited slip, is different ; it only biases torque and is common on FWD cars.
