The reason it should be changed is when you pull the transmission out all the clutch dust and debris is on the slave shaft were the seal rides, When you pull the trans the slave extends all the way out and collects all the crap on the shaft effectively killing the slave seal then and there.

The stock slave will go bad regardless so at least put a new stock slave in or preferably upgrade to our HD slave kit.
