Can anyone confirm that this car does NOT have any kind of black box or data logging device that can track what the car has done prior to mechanical failure?

There IS on all newer cars.

Think about it, some guy boys a Lancer and gets the full warranty. Than goes and dogs the car and blows the trans. You think there not going to have something they can look at to see how the car was driven. You could go threw 4 or five trans and nothing would be said if there was nothing to record with.

New cars have recording devices how else do you think they check error codes and check for if something is under warranty or not.

Westwood, did you get your car back yet? Mine should be ready this week!

Not on all cars but most. Some of the software to download is proprietary to the manufacturer and in some cases requires a subpoena to obtain. I work in the insurance industry and it can sometime cost us upward of $10K to download black box information after a crash. After a collision with airbag deployment 30 seconds before the collision are saved to memory and we can see everything that car was doing prior to the collision. Some manufacturers tell us that they do not monitor for warranty approval and others plead the 5th.

I was doubting what you said and wanted an answer from
Someone else... I really believe you are WRONG as per my convo's with Nissan service advisors and other car guys who work with nissans. I really don't think Nissan has the info readily available. We don't drive lancers so your example is not valid. Also mitshu denies all warranties on any modified cars anyway.

I've never once ever heard anyone on Any Nissan forum say anything about a warranty being voided due to driving the car aggressively and the dealer finding out.

I also think it would be In the manual as well. And it is not.

Sorry to go semi off topic but it relates to motor failure.

its happened on a GTR... where the people were completely dogging it and blew the tranny... Nissan was able to pull the info.

According to the Nissan tech's only the GT-R has a continuous data logger. The rest of the Nissan's only have an event data recorder for use during accident investigation, it only records the last 30 seconds or so of what was happening and it is only saved if there is an event the vehicle recognizes as a collision (air bag deployment, rapid deceleration etc).
