you're definately being credited for this by sending out your only spring to get replicated. I'm sure the whole community will be greatly happy about what you're doing for us/them:tup:

Just got the spring, its about 1 loop longer than the stock, but as far as I can tell there are no adverse affects here as the stock was unloaded when the pedal was fully depressed, that is still the case here but the smaller spring still has some tension now.

This spring is 75% softer than the factory spring and initial impressions are exactly what you would expect, it provides a marginal amount of assistance but you retain the lateral support like stock. You can still feel the pressure plate just not as well as with no spring at all. I'll put a few miles on it later on just to be sure but so far I'm happy with the rate, if you hated the stock spring this will still feel much better. I've tried contacting AK because I'm not sure if I need a vendor membership to sell these, the only reason I'm playing middle man at all is to get the discount on bulk ordering. I'll setup a new group buy thread later on with exact pricing (about $15-18 shipped) and carry over the existing list of members and order springs tomorrow.

OK guys theres about 20 of you that signed up on the list here but I need you to either send payment or confirm in the group buy thread that you actually want one, otherwise I will order less springs. Deadline is friday for confirmation and or payment.

svmtbman 06-02-2011 04:58 PM

Just popped out my stock spring and it was a breeze! I'll drive it around a few days until I get my new lighter spring from the group buy.

spearfish25 06-11-2011 07:36 AM

Still waiting on my spring. When did these ship?

Gotcha. Forgot there was another thread. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the mail man next week.

Payment sent, can't wait for a more normal clutch pedal feel!

TruKoi 06-11-2011 11:59 PM

dont worry I got everyone who paid! I'll order more and work on better pricing if there's still interest, it has died down a lot though after the initial GB but I certainly was not expecting so many people to want one, apparently the dissapointment in the clutch pedal is wide spread

tranceformer 06-12-2011 07:31 AM

I removed the spring and reattached the holder just so I dont lose any of the parts:o Its not a bad thing to have it attached with out the spring right? I cant see how it would be.

nope thats fine, you can leave it with no spring at all in fact. The point of replacing the spring is to get rid of the "dead" pedal at the top and to add the lateral support back that the stock spring/assembly provided.

modme 06-13-2011 12:38 PM

Just got my spring! Thanks a bunch esfourteen!!!!!!!

Evil Sports 06-13-2011 01:44 PM

Just tested it without the spring, Wow what a difference. Just like others I wonder what Nissan was thinking with this design.
The thing about leaving it in there with No spring is it will creek and make some noise when you press it sometimes. but I can live with it till ES4 sends me my upgrade:tup:

My helpful hint, use a Zip tie to hold down the clutch peddle then you have both hands free.

Are there any good guides to show a step by step installation of these springs?

These is the image one of the G forum members "inTgr8r" did:

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k7.../clutch2-2.jpg

There is a small C clip at the end of the pin on the bottom of the assembly, use a small flat head or needle nose pliers to remove this clip, it spins freely on the pin so just spin it around until its facing the proper direction to pull/pop it off.

Press the clutch pedal in, this will remove the tension on the spring and the pin, use a pair of pliers to push the pin out as far as you can, then grab it from the other end with the pliers and wiggle the pin out.

Once the pin is out, the assembly can be removed, it should fall out with the stock spring.

The top of the assembly will remain in, this has a rod on the end of it, and a small spring will likely still be attached to this because of the grease.

Place the black cup into the top of the new spring and the bottom of the assembly into the bottom of the spring, ensure the small black spring is still on the rod, if not just stick it in the top of the black cup.

Press the clutch pedal in again and then install the entire assembly onto the top part that is still there, slide it over the rod (thats what she said). Push the bottom onto the clutch pedal mount, it will stay in place.

With the clutch pedal still depressed, slide the pin into the bottom of the assembly, wiggle it/the spring and it should go in pretty easily.

Re-install the c-clip using the needle nose pliers.

I hope this helps!

when are you going to be getting more of these springs?

That's perfect, I'm sure it is even more obvious once the assembly is seen in person. Good that's what she said btw!

svmtbman 06-14-2011 08:39 AM

Drove my car today for the first time since installing the spring and all I can say is WOW! It feels so much better than stock and amazingly better than without the spring installed at all. The clutch feels a lot like my S2000 did which is a good thing!

RCZ 06-15-2011 05:24 PM

Yeah, put mine in this morning and it feels awesome. Perfect weight.

cruzmisl 06-16-2011 12:39 AM

Holy ****, the bottom pin was a bear. I think I was working on it for an hour and a half.

Be really careful with the pin. I think I nicked it on the end trying to tap it out, which caused it to become out of spec and basically get stuck before I could completely get it out of the bottom spring holder piece. The top one wasn't a problem at all.

I had to drive it without a spring to my dads house (to sand the pin and bracket back to spec,) which was my first time doing so. I loved how it felt, and was immediately driving the car smoother with less effort. It felt natural. This made me more excited to get the new spring in.

After I fixed the pin and the bracket, I got it in and tested it. It still took some work to get it in. I'm not sure how some of you guys do it so fast.

Anyway, it's way better than stock and really how it should feel!

doda74 06-16-2011 12:54 AM

For those who have not swapped out the spring yet, you do NOT need to remove the top pin.

It's so weird on some cars the bottom pin is horrible and others it isn't. I just had this issue with chuckd05's as well, the pin did not want to go through the rivet in the bracket on the pedal without the spring assembly even in there! I would recommend using a round file or a dremel to remove some of the material in the bracket if you run into this issue.

svt to 370z 06-16-2011 09:37 AM

Ya I did mine yesterday took me 5 min tops. Pulled the bottom c clip dropped the spring out put the new one on and put it back in. very smooth and easy and man is it a plesant surpise! I really like how it feels and drives now. so much smoother.

NewYorkJon34 06-16-2011 10:15 AM

Are there any more springs?
