Agreed. That's what it sounds like.

Side note, I had an old Mustang King Cobra. Heavily modified engine and suspension. One day I was going home in the hills of West Virginia when I decided to have a little fun on an empty road. There was a sight switchback. I came out of the first curve just fine and set up for the second when pffffft she dies...no power steering or brakes.

Last time I did that trick.

I was coming at it in 2 gear, went side ways and started sliding. Now, during this slide, I guess I was having too much fun? that I forgot to take my foot off the gas... So I spun out of control and was doing doing doughnuts in the middle of the road. After the 2nd circle, I tried to correct the car, and drive off. But EVERYTHING just turned off on me and my z started rolling backwards into the median. I freaked out and pulled the E brake. Put the car into Neutral and tired to start the car again.. it did not work. So I put it in park and got out of the car to see if I hit anything. Got back in the car and tried to start it.. it worked normal again. I drove it to school this morning and everything was fine.

Can anyone tell me WHAT happened and should I be worried about it? Hope what I wrote was clear enough for you guys to understand what happened.
From my experience in my old 5sp auto 350z, when I would drift it on the track and spin out, the car would automatically turn off and stall out, all of the lights would come on but remain in the ON position.

However, after talking to many other 350z/G35 drifters, they said this is just an emergency shut off the car will perform, even if the TCS or VDC is turned off. There is nothing wrong with your Z. In fact, I tried restarting it and it would go, until I put the car in park, shut it completely off, and then restarted it..

Doesn't happen with a lot of manual drivers because we can depress the clutch, just like in my new 370z. It's more of an automatic thing.
That's why. Just a safety feature.

I probably even have a video of it happening too on the track, if I come across it, I'll send it to you.

Just a question but don't automatic transmissions the engine shut down because too low rpm as the wheels come to a stop and start going reverse and the transmission disengages in a spin?

I just remember a few Top Gear episodes and other videos where they are testing a car with an auto and spin it out and then show them restarting the car.

It is possible and quite easy to stall the 7AT. Easiest way is to be on a hill, have the car in neutral, left off the brake and while rolling back switch it into drive. It will kill it everytime. Not saying this is what happened to you, just saying that its surprisingly not hard to kill it.

I learned this by putting my car in neutral to roll back out of the garage instead of reverse. First time I did it I was like wtf?!

I would say it was his torque converter that stalled his engine when he began to roll backwards.
