Dealer says "grinding into second is not abnormal"

Yeah....back in the decades when there were no synchros. Have they passed new marijuana laws in NY? Your dealer is smoking it.

i have no idea what they are smoking. I want to make sure that the tech actually drove the car and it wasnt the service writer.

Tech probably thought it was an automatic, and drove it that way.

Yeah, it is NOT normal to grind. Unless, of course, you don't have the clutch fully engaged (?).

Or you have issues with your synchros. If the clutch is not full engaging or disengaging, that could be causing the synchros to complain as well.
