your assumptions 1,2 and 3 are 100% correct. how ever when you move the shifter it id from d (drive) to DS (Drivesport) in ds it will shift for you

your assumptions 1,2 and 3 are 100% correct. how ever when you move the shifter it id from d (drive) to DS (Drivesport) in ds it will shift for you and more aggressive. in DS if you hit the shifter or paddles it enters manual and will not shift for you (unless you are slowing down)
How ever in D mode you can still hit the paddles and drop a few grears it will tekperarly put the car in DS manual mode and revert back to D mode after you let off the gas and resume "normal" driving.
