Weird clutch pedal pressure.

My clutch pedal started to feel a little weird lately. It seems to be fairly normal most of the time, but I noticed that if I'm cruising in one gear for a bit, when I go to depress the clutch pedal to downshift, there is a bit more free play till i reach the engagement point(very little pressure until the pedal is close to the floor). Then when I release the clutch pedal and depress it again it feels normal. I've tested it a couple of times and it feels like pedal pressure only drops for the first shift after driving in one gear for a while.

Fluid level is pretty much to the max line.

Clutch pedal feeling is quite inconsistent with the Z, but it's a bit better than the 350Z (my '03). Pedal effort is not too springy at least.

I say if your fluid level is good you should be ok. If you are really concerned you can take it to a dealer for piece of mind. Good luck

How many miles do you have? Maybe it's the disc wearing (?). Like in brake pads.... as they wear, the pedal must be depressed lower to get the same braking ability.

I've had a similar problem; only with mine, I get the same symptoms you describe; but mine occur only when I start the car after it has been parked for several hours. My car has about 17,000 miles on it; I've noticed the problem for the last 4 or 5 months. I asked the dealer about it when the car was in for the 15K mile service; I was told it was "normal" for clutch pressure to vary with this car. They could not duplicate the symptoms. Symptoms seems to occur about once a week. I was thinking air in the system?

Do these have any form of a clutch delay valve? In my STi we had one in the master and one in the slave. It was a fairly common mod to remove these to help alleviate irregualr pressure/engadgement points.

ill tell you exactly what it is... had dealer switch out already and its happening again with my car but now its not as bad and comes and goes. its your clutch master cylinder.

Heres a wiki link that explains its general function. In my subaru it was the cause for incosistent clutch pedal pressure/engadement points. I havent been able to find if they are in this car yet.

my car does the same thing, but I have an aftermarket clutch and flywheel. As someone said above, it might be your CSC that is starting to go. I hope to god that they are wrong, It would be the third time opening the transmission for me.

Bump. Anyone have any input on this? I had this happen for the first time today. Engagement happens at the very bottom near the floor and the rest is play with no feathering of the clutch.
