Blow-off valve
Hey there guys, I originally come from the family of Subaru and their STi. It was a real blast for me to hear the sound of a blow-off valve when riding in my old one. But now that I own a Nismo, does anyone use a blow-off valve here? I'm completely clueless on "rules" of 370s and blow-off valve. So please try not to hate. :p

you need a turbo to have a blow off valve
|
Oh right totally forgot mine had a turbo.. sad its been a while.. Anyways, for the people who do have a BoV, please put your input on this :)

Reread Jeffblue's comment

Yes.. I understand you need a turbo for a BoV.. Maybe I'm not being clear enough? I'm asking if anyone here has installed a BoV, and what it sounds like/ performance output, and such information would be helpful. Thanks though, sorry if I'm not getting my point through.

370z's do NOT have stock turbo...therefore we do not use blow off valves
|
check stormcrow...he installed a TT, check with him to see how it sounds....
|
Haha
|
If you want a BOV its' going to be expensive, because you're going to need to install turbos first.
|
Sure..... We can install a blow off valve for you, hell... even two of them if you would like. :p
In fact, we are having a special, Buy the blow off valve(s) for $11,499 and receive a free twin turbo kit.... installed. :tiphat: Either way, welcome to the 370Z world and congrats on the Nismo. |
so yea. the BOV are a cool sound, but thats because of the function they serve on a turbocharged car. You know a car is running PSI when you hear that sound so you know its being boosted and therefore faster than its Naturally aspirated counterpart. Just how a loud exhaust sounds cool on a sports car because you know its got some power, you think it sounds dumb on a 98 sentra b.c it isn't fast or powerful, and probably just has a hole in the muffler. If someone heard the whoosh of a BOV on your car they'd think you had a turbo. Theyd ask you what kind of PSI you were running and you'd say you just had a fake one, and they'd laugh. Its all about fuction. You have to earn those BOV's by having a TT installed.

I am running a HKS BOV and I have mine set to recirculate back to the intakes. You still hear the bov, but it's not super loud. If I drove by you and switched gears I doubt you would even hear it. I guess it depends if you want more sound, or if you want better performance. But first things, first get a turbo kit then decide how you want your BOV to vent.

LMFAO @ this thread!!!:roflpuke2:

Oh my... I'm glad this forum is so much more civilized than My350Z.
Guys at My350Z would have already eaten the OP ALIVE. hahahaha |
|
|
oh man, preemptive IBTL.
Unforgotten, bov's are used to relieve boost pressure. The turbo has inertia and will keep building pressure....what am I doing? this is pointless. Listen, you can't put a BOV in the 370z because BOV's are used for turbo/boost applications. The 370z does not have a turbo and thus you can't use one. |

i think we should eat the OP. it's only fair. you can't ask a question like this and expect not to be killed and eaten. just kidding :P
OP people here are actually being pretty nice about this, normally this thread would be 4x longer and filled with pictures of unicorns, rainbows, links to transgender surgery etc. Consider yourself lucky. I think it would be funny if the OP went out and got is 370z TT'd and then everyone that had posted here making fun of him was like.... |
LOL This is jokes
|
I just need to comment so I can see where this goes.

Response B: Coming from an Evo IX myself, this sounds exactaly like something an STWhy owner would say. Response C: See response A because this HAS to be some kind of joke. |

I told you the prophecy! Now look what has happened. the sign of the unicorn has come! RUN! I guess its kind of like going on a Hellaflush Forum an saying 'Hey guys i don't know much about stretching tires but do you think i could stretch a 305 tire on a 8" wide wheel? |
Its a :stirthepot: post

Don't you mean the park bench forum?
|
Ok guys here is my idea...
I am going to take the Bugatti engine, take the four turbo’s put it into my 370z and than put on FOUR bov's. Sound good? |

In all fairness... I think realistically the OP probably drives an econo-box. It might not be a sports car but their drivers sure think they are!! http://www.car.com/images/carcom/05_...exfrpass34.jpg The black hood and fog lamps sure are a nice touch. As are the 10" disc brakes. :ugh2: |
better yet... have the 4 blow off valves fire in sucession so that if anyone missed the first sounding, there are 3 more !

He does actually have pictures up of the 370z though. http://www.the370z.com/new-nismo-370...-nismo-mb.html |
Man it would sound like the air powered breaks in big rigs!

Response B makes you sound like the kind of dumb jackass evo owner that gives other evo owners a bad name. Congrats. And then do you feel big ripping on people with civics? Just remember that civic can last a full track session without overheating unlike our cars... |
oh god, ibtl
|
Sorry if I'm so embarrassing, but I know that you need a turbo for a BoV. The STi family usually uses BoV, so I'm curious if it is common for 370 owners to have turbos and if so, is it common for the people to install BoV. When they do, what gains do we get? I admit I'm not smart in engines and I was misleading now that I read over my posts. I appreciate the help from people who did try to help and for the others sorry if I seem retarded
