Default Does anyone's transmission clunk from time to time when pushing the clutch in??

I have an '10 370 and from time to time when I shift from first to second or when I take it out of gear from first you hear a loud thump come from the transmission or clutch...has anyone else had this problem? is this common with the 370 to make that sound?

Something just doesn't seem right with that lol...

Normal. The 350z/370z has always been a fairly involved and noisy car. She'll make some odd noises from time to time. Nothing to worry about.

Try this: When shifting from 1st to 2nd, push the clutch in slowly and don't shift immediately. Then slowly put it in 2nd gear. I'll be willing to bet there is no noise at all.

yup its normal, I too started a thread about this when I first got my car. you'll get to where you can drive it and hardly ever make it clunk again. when you're in first and going into second or even from first to neutral push the clutch in slowly...enjoy

thanx, cuz i felt the different in shifting while the S-mode is on and off. I felt the clutch more sensitive while it is off. and it sure is easy to drive while it is on. does any of you feel the same way?

Ya there's no noise when you do that...it's mostly when the motor is reving up on a shift and then you push the clutch in....sounds like a knocking sound...Well I'm glad to hear it's normally, I was going to take it into Nissan...

yes, i found out that if you depress the clutch slowly and smoothly you will not hear the thumping dumping pumping flamming noise.

Does anyone know what causes that? What's knocking when you depress the clutch?
