Default Loud shifts from 1st gear to 2nd

Does anyone notice a "clunk" noise when u shift from first to second gear? I hear it of my windows or down or if I see another Z leaving a stop sign or stop light. Just making sure my car isn't fu@$%d up. It's not like a BANG! Just a clunk noise. No other manual car I've had is this loud. Lemme know if anyone else's does this

many of our customers have great success with the Motyl gear 75w-90 and also the MT-85!

The VQ trans are known to be a little clunky!

Does an after market short shifter, and a better clutch help improve this clunkynes? I pecked my car a week ago and was thinking the same: "just my luck, they gave me the one with the f:&/& &p transmission"

I've also read that this is normal. I feel it's more of a shift linkage noise rather than a transmission noise...

One post suggests to slow down the shift from 1st to 2nd - this worked for me to eliminate the noise. Also, make sure the clutch pedal is on the floor before you take it out of 1st. Experiment a little with your shifting...

It's normal. The Z has a very loud tranny.

Normal. Refine your shifting. I used to do this during the first few hours of ownership. It is likely that scooting your seat back 1/2" or so will fix it.

Yes sir, this is normal.
I get it too but after about 30 minutes of driving it smooths out when the trans fluid warms up

You mean engagement length or pedal travel?

It's no longer than in my mustang, F-body, or corvette. The Mustang had the best clutch-feel hands-down, though, being cable operated.

So far, though, I am NOT having the issues you guys are with the clutch and my '12. I also hated the clutch in the '10 and '11 I drove, though. Did they change anything for '12? I find it totally different. Just like my Corvette, actually, except with less motor to smooth out my launching mistakes. Clutch feels great. I paid a member on here for a new spring, and I might not even install it.

My MT makes a bit of noise during shifts but nothing out of the ordinary. Switching to Redline synthetic trans oil did decrease the amount of noise from the transmission and smoothed out shifts ever so slightly, definitely a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion.
