I have a 2011 370z with 144K. My problem is the engine will stutter and skip when I am starting the engine - but this is very infrequent and unpredictable when it happens. At first, the stutter start showed up when the fuel tank was less than a 1/4 tank. On a full tank, or anything more than a half tank - the problem does not occur. Maybe that is coincidental. I was told to replace the spark plugs and coils. I did - but that did not resolve the problem.
I took the vehicle to the Nissan dealership. The diagnostic report showed it "might be" the fuel pump. I have driven the vehicle for the past week - from a full tank of gas to a quarter tank of gas - without any "stutter start" problems. The check engine light has been on the entire time. I am confused by this and am beginning to believe that it might not be the fuel pump. I would appreciate any input or suggestions this forum could provide. If you have questions - I will monitor this post every day and will reply promptly. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Well - my FP went out at only 76k miles or so...
I had random electrical like issues - some days the car just would NOT start with dead battery like symptoms. Tested battery - was totally fine... then next AM car would start like nothing happened. What preceded this was the louder aftermarket like BUZZING sound from the fuel pump area (it sounded like some of those more powerful aftermarket FP's you'll hear on race cars) - except mine was the factory original from 2014 I would buy a new pump, and top hat thing from Z1 - have it on standby!! I don't think they're that complicated to replace yourself - maybe watch a few videos on it? That's just my experience - I ended up with a bill: my car had to be towed from Scottsdale to Gilbert, to the dealership...and I needed my car for work/commuting - ended up blowing $1200 with all the bs involved. Nothing like having your car strand you on your lunch break when you're supposed to meetup with coworkers! I used to fill mine, and keep it full - so it wasn't the typical: "oh the FP ran hot" but maybe it was who knows - it was miserably HOT in Phoenix so... The HEAT destroys these cars: I've since had to fix the door lock actuator, both lower window weather strips, and 2 new batteries in 5 years since I moved from Oregon to the desert SW, and now I have paint issues on the A-pillars that go up to the roof...
