In D Mode without the paddles, it always going to the higher gear so if you happen to quickly give it gas it has a slight hesitation to downshift to accelerate, That's normal for the Transmission to do that. I just drive most of the time with the paddles and control the shifts myself.. I have not noticed any changes in cold weather temps Here in Cali it was recently 47 degrees, cool for some but cold for us..
