Data logging oil temperature with Blue Driver OBD reader

I bought a Blue Driver OBD scanner and am unable to pull my oil temperature values. It says the PID is not supported.

Wondering if this is a common issue with all OBD scanners or is it only the Blue Driver?

Yes it’s common, I’ve had 2 different OBD devices and both had no support. The only success seeing oil temps is using uprev data logging

Weird. I definitely know someone who used to pull the oil temp values with his Torque app. He was using one of the nicer (i.e. more expensive) OBD scanners with bluetooth at the time (~2014).

I have no issues with my Ecutek software.

I have the same OBD scanner and no oil temp either.

There is an oil temp PID (551F) function though for the life of me I can't understand how to or even if it's possible to read it from the ODBII port under the wheel. Like I've tried to get the tire pressure to work and couldn't.

The G37/370 oil temperature is an EXTENDED PID and the ECU needs to be in to diagnostic mode in order to recieive a valid response. This is very easy to do.

This video show how to set up the engine oil temperature PID for our cars using Torque Pro:

If your OBD software/app doesn't allow a diagnosticstart/stop code this won't work.

Accidentally found a cheap OBD display gauge that will read oil temps. I bought it specifically for track use to monitor coolant temps as I already have separate oil temp gauge. Here’s the link
