Default Clunking clunk clunk low mph 1st gear

Any help on this would be great or insight. On my way home from a trip, got into the car started at very low mph in first gear get a loud but consistent clunk/banging noise not the normal clunk. This was loud enough to sound like a tire had blow and was flapping on the wheel. I even got out and looked tires fine. Went and did it again after I Started moving, after first gear nothing more. On the drive home did not happen again at stop signs etc haven't driven since. Any ideas what the hell happened? It very cold right now in the northeast car was outside for about an hour and a half before this happened

Are you on your summer tires still? If you are running the factory Potenzas or any other summer/performance tire, they will almost skip across the pavement in below freezing temps until you get some heat in them. It will be a kind of clunk noise that sounds like what you are describing.

My guess is that you picked up something (eg, ice, piece of plastic, etc) that eventually cleared itself. I'd do a good visual inspection of the front suspension/brakes/wheels, just to be sure you didn't lose a fender liner or something.

Thanks all, I think it must be some kind of cold/tire or traction, yes I still have stock summer tires. Today I took car to gym again let it warm up good no issues driving to gym. Car sat for about 1 hour 15 mins give or take, I let it warm up more then yesterday pulled out happened again but not as bad, only for the first few feet then it was fine and didn't happen again. Almost feels like I am getting no traction, I think it must be weather related bc it was very cold right now

Is it happening when you turn the steering wheel when stopped or when making a tight turn at very low speed? If so, then probably tire scrub.

Yup, Like SouthArk mentioned, if it's happening when you are making a sharp turn when first driving, it's the tires.

You can Google "Ackerman angles" for more details on the phenomenon.

Not to be "that guy", but running summer tires in freezing temps usually ends up in disaster. If you're going to DD the car, either winter wheels/rubber or switching to all-seasons will drastically reduce your chances of wadding up the car.

Wow, I just googled it and that sounds about what it is ackerman angle, Its only when I pull out of the parking space with a sharp turn thanks I am going to assume this is it then goes away after the tires warm up some?

I dont DD the z in the winter time I have another car, Only time it comes out in the winter if its "nice" sunny roads not wet or iced up, It has been very cold, but no snow, once snow hits and the roads are full of cinders it stays in the garage 99% of the time in the winter, but I am trying to get as much enjoyment that I can before my "season" ends so to speak lol. I never drove it much last winter and it was milder last year maybe why this never happened before?

I have a set of 18"s and Blizzaks that go on the car for winter however last year it was pretty mild so I didn't even bother. I'll probably swap them over this weekend.
