Default 2010 Nismo Z New Stock Engine

So apparently you're not supposed to drive on 1 quart of oil....
Well I've read the horror stories from guys running out of oil. It seems like the 09'-10 Z's are the main offenders. I had just put in some stoptech rotors/pads and I heard grinding, I thought it might have been that... Nope low oil and I threw a piston rod.

When I bought the Nismo Z 2010 used at 22k miles in 2012, I bought the extended 100k Warranty. Because the car had been well maintained and no sludge, they replaced the engine and transmission under warranty. When they tore apart the engine they told me a defective lower engine timing cover was the cause.

I know that we should all be checking our oil regularly, but in the end I guess I'm happy that it went... just lucky they replaced it under warranty.

Anything that I should be aware of with a 78k mile Z and a new engine? I'm probably going to stop using redline and just stick with the synthetic blend that comes in the car... If I have to change the oil religiously at 4k miles no matter what I'm not really seeing the point.

They told me there isn't any break in period and I can drive it regularly... I'm not so sure. Anyone want to chime in on this experience?

It does drive like a brand new car, sounds completely different. Everything seems to be copacetic. Love to hear any input... Curious if I'm going to run into problems down the road and I should get rid of it or keep it and drive it till the wheels fall off.

Keep it. It does have a break in period, it is in the owners manual. Just check your oil from now on.

Do a break in, then drive the wheels off it!

Bought my Z with an engine that was rebuilt at 24k and is now sitting at almost 150k with no issues and no oil consumption so i think you should be good
