Default OS Giken diff question

This Saturday I'm going to install os Giken diff. I have all the extra parts but have a question. When reinstalling stub axles does the original c-clip stays on the shaft or does it get removed? I noticed there are c-clips already inside the diff. I'm pretty sure it needs to be removed but just want to make sure. Here's the picture of the c-clip.
