Whats the labor for install looking like to install the backing plate gears and ati damper?

Will not be cheap - I will install mine into my race engine (4-litre, 13.5:1 on E85 with HR heads and JWT C12/RZ1 cams - induction TBA) as it is built. I'm doing this as an interim before moving to dry-sump to contain the level of investment required.

You can probably pull the front cover off the engine with the engine still in the car, BUT it also implies the timing chain comes off (oil pump behind timing chain). No doubt someone with more experience can comment on whether this can be done or not.

That's what i figured. 8-10 labor with an experienced mechanic.

Major experience, it won't be as bad as the older VG30DE engines with triple chain sets. It will need to be perfect the first time. No room for error.

Guess I'll start asking for shop around Florida

One of my Nissan dealer quoted ~$934 for labor.

Sounds about right. That would be around 8-9hrs of labor.

As a DIY'er, This is something I would consider doing on its own. Paying someone else, I would probably wait to put them in until the engine is already out for other work.

How much is everything going to be, price wise?


Man, I wish you guys lived closer. I would fire up my tools for $500 labor to do it. LOL
