Are the modified Vq3.7 pumps the only pumps compatible with this? GT-R compatible?

Total D 02-23-2016 02:01 PM

I haven't looked at a GT-R oil pump to be able to give you that answer. If I can get my hands on a pump, then I'd be able to further investigate. If not the same, and gears are an issue, then I guess I'd be looking at making those as well.

interested, especially since they will be pre-built. price is important

VR38 oil pump is no where near compatible with the VQ. Its a 2 stage pump that mounts inside the upper pan and driven by a chain off the timing sprocket.

Thanks Charles, for clariflying that for us.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you guys know, after talking with Charles, I'll be taking over the torch to get these gears made. This will allow him to continue on other product development and since we already have the DE/Revup gears done, it makes sense.

The drawings should be done in a few weeks and then we can start getting them made. We are using a Nismo pump as our base pump, so we know what to improve and what to leave alone. We do the full pump service, so pump is modified to accommodate the billet gears and we will also attach our billet back plate.

If you're interested let me know and we can start a list. I'll go over more details once the drawings are finished.

Sign me up!

I'm doing the gears and the backplate. We also modify the pumps to compliment the gears, so it's not just a gear set swap. Although, it could be done that way, we just want to make sure we can get more out of the pump besides just strengthend gears.

When you get a price. And I think it justifiable. I could be in.

Total D 02-24-2016 03:57 PM

It will be priced below the Nismo and provide you a better pump that addresses the issues even the Nismo deals with.

My only problem is there is no evidence backing this up, Will these gears hold up to constant abuse past 7.500 rpms?

Total D 02-26-2016 07:41 AM

On the DE/revup, a stock pump only held 3" of vaccum. This out of the box, never opened. After modifying the pump, just the pump, we were able to hold around 18-20" of vaccum. That's a 600% increase of stock. Along with the other mods we do, there was an increase of flow for about 8-10 %, all this helping with cavatation at higher rpms.

The gears, the only thing different is the material and another process we use to make the gears stronger. While I haven't tested the VHR yet, I don't see why we cant replicate what we did with the DE. I hate to put it like this, but you can buy a nismo, know that they fail, and be out of pocket $1400. If not, you can go with our pump, save money and at least get the same performance if not better, and have billet gears and a billet back plate. We are using a Nismo pump as our base, to make this an even closer comparison, not just a regular VHR pump.

Can I use the billet gears and back plate if I already have the Nismo pump?

iPhone

What other items would be needed to spin higher RPM's other than these gears and tune?

gomer_110 02-26-2016 01:26 PM

better crankshaft, valve spring upgrade
