Clutch Longevity (excl CSC/CMC)

For those with higher mileage. How many miles does the OEM clutch last in term of the clutch disc and pressure plate etc. (excluding the csc/cmc) under normal driving condition?

Can easily last 100k miles under 'normal' driving conditions.
I put a new one in after 80k miles and boosted since 19k miles, it all comes down to how you drive and how much you ride the clutch.

Over 35k miles on the odometer, in nyc dd, traffic, red lights, stop sings and other unexpected stops....i clutched it over 150k times, changed fluid @24 and 26k miles. Still clutching strong.

P.S. i dont ride the clutch, just press and let go, the longest clutch riding i do is 1$t gear about 1sec.

Your clutch should last the life of the car if you drive it properly. This does assume you don't mod the car. I've never burnt out a clutch in my life and I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on manual transmissions.

On this same note, how much does it cost to replace a clutch?

My aftermarket clutch, HD CSC and new CMC was $1100. Figure on 4-5 hrs of labor if you aren't going to do it yourself. Throw in $40 for misc fluid etc. So $1500-1700 depending on labor cost in your area.

Edit - of course costs could go up depending on clutch you choose

My clutch has been sticking to the floor at drift events. At first I found I had old black fluid so I swapped it out with Motul and it was back to clutch kicking. Now at my last event it started sticking again but this time almost immediately. Thing is it wasn't completely on the the floor, there was still a couple mm's of pressure to shift it in gear. Thought it was the CSC issue but there is no loss of fluid anywhere and after some time it goes back to normal. Someone who tracks it says I have to replace the CMC with a willwood and that would fix it. Anyone else have this problem, want to be sure before I order one.

The willwood won't fit. There is no aftermarket CMC for our cars. Really sounds like you have the first stages of CSC failure. Swap it out for the zspeed HD. While the tranny is on the ground you might consider swapping the clutch too. It is highly recommended you replace the CMC any time you drain it completely too.

Glad to know that the clutch is fairly good.

So was it completely worn out at 80k miles or it was still good?

Pulled mine out at 42k to upgrade for the turbo install and the friction plate was still in perfect condition.

Mine was still in perfect condition like jwick (Friction plate), but my CSC died on me (pedal stuck to floor) so figured it was time to do it all at once.

The stock clutch is pretty good. It's the CSC that's crap. But if you are dropping the tranny to replace the CSC anyway then what Dreamer did and go ahead and swap the clutch is a good idea.
