Clutch Replacement Advice

This same question has had me pondering a many a times. I have thought about it a few times now. The clutch system operated similar to a break system. I would think you should/could follow the same protocols on a clutch/flywheel as on a break system.

Well I know single mass flywheels can be turned... I'm just not sure about dual mass.

you should consider light weight flywheel too, I hate how long it takes to bite going from 2nd to 3rd.. feels like forever!

Dual mass definitely can be turned; however, as I understand it requires a special machine to do so.

Okay. I just find it funny how every person that takes their Z into a stealership for CSC or related issues, are always told they need an entire new clutch system including a flywheel which would take all of 10 minutes to resurface. Lol, like throwing away and installing new rotors anytime you change out brake pads

They can be resurfaced! The trick is finding a shop that has the equipment to do so. Many BMWs and VWs use dual mass flywheels, ask shops that work on those vehicles regularly. They'll be able to direct you to the right place.

The trick to resurfacing dual mass flywheels is to stop the two masses from moving while resurfacing. There are various ways to doing this.
