Default How hard is it to swap hatches?

As I have mentioned before I really don't want a wing. Even the Nismo, which I love, it too much for me. However, I plan to road track the car several times (maybe 6) a year so would like one on those days.

From what I have read there are no wings that use the same holes that the stock sport spoiler does. Someone suggested maybe having two hatches. But how much work is it to swap them?

The other idea someone had was to just plug the holes not in use. I wouldn't object to having plugs showing on the hatch. What do you guys think?

Use plugs if you don't object to having them. Much less work to swap and you dont have to store anything.

I'm assuming you have a spoiler on the 40th?

If so, it has 11 mounting points. 4 bolts, and 7 plastic pop rivets. That's a lotta holes to plug... (that's what he said...)

If you swap your rear hatch, you'll need to undo the support braces, undo the mounting bolts, and cut the rear hatch wiring harness for the defogger and 3rd brake light. Most people get plugs installed to make it easier, but that didn't suit me so I had my hatch completely re-done for my wing.

The other concern with having a different hatch on your car, is if you buy one from someone else, the VIN number on the hatch won't match the VIN of your car. So in the unlikely event of an accident, your insurance is not liable to replace the other hatch if it gets damaged in anyway.

Just something to consider...

That is not helpful Chris!

Well, it IS helpful but doesn't present a 'fix'! Haha.

Very good points, thank you.

It is sounding more and more like I'm just going to have to go all Nismo wing all the time. Me...Mr. Mid-forties driving around suburbia with a big-*** wing. At least my girlfriend will match the image.
