Default DIY - Odyssey PC680 Battery Install

Here is a quick and easy DIY for anyone who needs to get a new battery and would also like to drop 20 pounds off the front of the car. The total time is easily less than an hour.

I really like these little PC680 batteries as they last a long time and have plenty of juice to start the car.

First I removed all the plastic around the battery. Then I used a 6x100 die to thread the long OEM tie down almost all the way down to the hook. You could just as easily buy a universal tie down kit as they typically are threaded pretty far down the hook.

On the short tie down side there was a lower hole to mount the hook to so I used that.

Then I just put the battery to the back of the tray and torque the front tie down as low as it would go. The brace does bend as you torque down the front tie down but that is fine and the battery isn't moving anywhere.

Nice Job...Will need to replace my battery soon. This looks like a good option. Just purchased a Battery Tender Plus as the car is only used on weekends.

Any issue to date?

Those of you planning on using the 680, make sure to order the terminals with the battery. I forgot and had to pay for another shipping charge.

Hey Jordo, I never had any problems with my 680. The only thing is the car needs to be started I would say atleast once a week, if not on a tender. If its really could out, you may need to start the car like every 4 days or so.

In Texas, when it was getting down in the 30's at night, my Z would still start up after 4 days, but you could tell the battery was getting weak.
