Looks good but you can see the pry mark on the left side about 10-11 o'clock

FairladyZ10PG 06-02-2013 12:12 AM

I installed mine today using a metal screw driver and a microfiber towel so it won't leave any mark. Worked like a charm. 5 mins & I was done. Great write up.

faya 07-02-2013 12:03 AM

So I'm probably stupid but I can't seem to get the outer grey piece out of the start button:

I tried pushing the side and pulling it as instructed but it won't budge! Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Nvm, got it! :)

Nice! I would just add a suggestion to use a plastic screwdriver or panel tool instead, since that plastic is really easy to mar with metal.

I used an X-Acto knife with the wide flat blade. It was easy to slide under the trim and didn't dent the dash.

Masking tape and paint?:inoutroflpuke:

Riptide67 09-21-2013 09:22 PM

I used this method but my tool of choice was a 90 degree dental pick. It was the perfect tool for the job!

speedytl 10-03-2013 04:42 PM

I use a old credit card.

vq37ftw 11-01-2013 08:00 AM

I am gonna try this but scared im gonna break a clip or something also.is there like double.sided tape?

tWeEzY 11-01-2013 09:01 AM

I used my finger. Took a while till i realized i was sliding it the wrong way lol

vq37ftw 11-01-2013 09:24 AM

Did you guys need alot of force should i order a bezel just incase i break it? Will a credit card work?

Ghostvette 11-01-2013 09:39 AM

It doesn't take much pressure to get it out. Don't use a crowbar and you'll be fine. :stirthepot:

If you break the bezel...you have some serious strength and a problem. It literally pops right out and you wont have to worry about breaking a clip.

vq37ftw 11-01-2013 12:51 PM

Perfect ill use a credit card 1st to get a gap then a small flat head with micro fibers to keep the plastics good. I like to plan ahead lol

PhizzleP0p 11-02-2013 08:12 AM

Anyone in the market for one of these bad boys give me a holler. I work at a Nissan dealership in TX so I can give you a decent discount on these things. PM ME!

kfull 11-09-2013 06:00 PM

The start button looks really cool at nighttime since you can see the START STOP words light up. Quick cool easy mod

ka24king 11-09-2013 06:39 PM

Not being a Debbie downer but my ring dident pop out so easy and ended up leaving an little dent on the leather part surrounding the button. Only I will ever notice it but it is there.just throwing that out there

Niche79 01-24-2014 01:26 AM

A big thanks for the info to take this out easy, just got mine in before work today and popped it in for a 2am install tonight after work! rofl

Precisely why I took the extra 2 minutes to do the way suggested in other thread. 6 screws total and no pry marks. I could understand if it took say 20 minutes. But start to finish 5 minutes doing it the "longer" way.

Thinking about getting one of these. Anyone have a night shot to see what it looks like lit up? Just curious.

I can take it later tonight. Windows just got tinted so I pulled it right back outside. I did take a video and put it on youtube of it and my gtr lenses and it was a night. Ill link the vid.

Raven_32 02-06-2014 05:47 AM

this may be a stupid question but is the GTR start button just a cosmetic upgrade or does it have any other advantages?

Pisses off the color-blind.

vin17 05-16-2014 03:36 PM

Just installed it per this method. I used a plastic dental pick to remove the old switch (see Trip's photos). For an all-thumbs person like me, it took approx 30 minutes - but it is doable, even by the most inept.

Jordo! 05-16-2014 04:56 PM

This method works great! Put a little scotch tape over the flat head of the screwdriver to avoid scratching and pry gently -- it pops out and you can do the swap in like 5-10 minutes.

ctrumpetplay 06-24-2014 09:42 PM

Very east upgrade. I did it in under 3 mins. Take your time though!:happydance:

plato 07-22-2014 01:24 AM

LoL @ other method.

This rocked! I used an old credit card.

speedytl 07-23-2014 10:20 AM

Yep one of the best way without messing your leather up.
